Rode to and from work today for 21 miles. Got a few extra blocks in this morning when I rode to the garage that I park the car in and used to park the bike in - haven't parked a bike there since they installed a rack in the building that I work in. That's been almost two years ago. Didn't ride into the wrong garage but came close. D'oh!!

20 miles seems to be the theme of the day. Windy but clear blue skies.

Managed to get 22 miles in this morning before getting rained out. Had I not been in the parking lot, next to the van, I would have finished the 45 miles but it was too easy to pack up the bike and stay dry.

Nice 15+ miler today; I'm getting my sea legs back! After only a couple of weeks, I feel stronger, my butt no longer hurts, everything seems in order. Had a pretty ride today in an area called Damonte Ranch, on a MUP which winds around a wetlands (mostly dry these days).

25 miles today in absolutely gorgeous weather: 05/02/15 - Rapides Parish, LA

The low was about 53F overnight, 65F when I started and probably 75F when I finished around 11 AM. Clear blue sky with a few small white clouds... very un-Louisiana-like weather except a few rare treats in the spring and fall.

Here's a stop along the way (and no, I wasn't dying ):

...and from the other direction:

I'll be in SW Texas soon for a week, so I'm sure I'll feel the difference between 5,000 ft elevation there, and 200 ft (max) elevation here. But I can't wait, and I'm taking my bike. Hopefully I'll a chance for at least a ride or two.

42 miles... started out with 13 but after 5 miles and a good size hill, 4 dropped off. At the turnaround 4 of us decided to only take a short break and head back. We did 14.1 going out and 16.2 going back.

I hope you have tire liners. Lotza goathead stickers.

Rode the trike to downtown Reno today w/bike buddy. Haven't been there in a while. Bike path surface is horrible but the homeless drunks were all friendly. Beautiful day, lotza people out. Couple of small but steep hills tested the leg strength.

18.5 miles (Allez) yesterday and 15 (trike) today. Love this weather, as long as the wind stays low.

62 miles or 100 k as it was advertised. Nasty north wind in my face for the first half but smooth sailing on the way back. I was on the road earlier this week for work and nasty rain made for a terrible week for riding but I pounded out the mileage today.

As long as I stay on the road, I've been OK in past years. But even in lawn grass there are lots of sharpies. I have armored tires, which help to a degree. This is north of Big Bend territory.

50 miles on the Screamer with my favorite stoker on a Grand Touring ride, which is a club ride where the goal is to stay together, stop for breaks, socialize, etc. More so than on regular club rides, anyway. No Dan Henrys and the leaders make sure no one gets dropped. We didn't get dropped and rode much of the way with a small group of less-fast riders. Lots of hills and almost as many redbud trees in evidence. Rode from Columbus, IN over into Brown County and back again.
Stopped briefly in the historic (so we are told) town of Story.

JamMM, that's an inviting pic!

We did 70.4 miles on the tandem today, Bedford to Pepperell.

Just one of the interesting things to see:

51.7 miles at 16.3 mph. 1440 ft of climbing. Started out into a headwind and it took me an hour to get motivated. At one point I'm cruising along the seawall with a bit of a tailwind, around 23 mph, and this chubby kid on a mountain bike pedals by me. My first thought is oh well I've got about 40 years on him. I know I'm old but WTH this is just wrong. At the end of the seawall he stops and I turn onto the road up a punchy little hill. I'll be damned I'm out of the saddle cranking up the hill and he pedals by me as easy as pie. Then I realize that the peckerhead has a motor on his bike. Made me feel a lot better

100.6 miles with 7.5K of climbing. First century ride of the year. By this time last year I already had 4 or 5. This cold and wet winter and spring have set me back a bit.

Oh that and the fact that I've gained about 25 pounds over the winter

Around here it would be called a cupola.

11 miles this afternoon with one short steep hill that reminded me we had 1450 feet of elevation gain yesterday. (A lot by our standards.) Feel the burn!
