17.4 miles (28.0k). Dressed in full winter gear after catching a chill yesterday, dodged a few raindrops. I think summer is on back order.

2018: 1,170m (1,883k) — Total 22,153m (35,652k)

Saturday - 36 miles on a club ride out of Brownsburg. Hosted by Roark Custom Cycles, who specialize in making titanium bikes. Of course, I rode my ti 'bent.
Today - 23 tandem miles with the mother of my sons on Mothers Day. She had the option not to pedal, but she did. Since we don't have IPS, she would have had to put her feet up on my shoulders.

Got out early today, 41 miles to Williston and back. Getting more summerlike, with humidity creeping up. Saw a mother Turkey with her 4 or 5 little pullets on the side of SR-41. I came up so quickly she barely had time to flinch.

With the Domane in the shop, I won’t get in any more rides in FL before heading to VA Tuesday evening, and probably none there before Saturday’s Tour de Madison. Been awhile since I’ve been on the Giant, but that’s the bike I keep in VA, so I’ll give it a good going over before the ride. Leaving my options open as to distance.......

24 Miles. I was going to go longer but my legs were sore after yesterday's ride so I cut it short. It was the same route as I took yesterday.

Got two rides in this weekend

Went out for a brisk ride around town with a good friend who is 62, we did 24 miles in a couple hours of dealing with city traffic and lights. Then went for a 10 mile ride with my wife and daughter on mother's day. Riding with family and friends is my favorite!

Duplicate post from the Classic and Vintage forum...

I rode both Saturday and Sunday, totaling right at 50 miles. I turn 51 this week, and wanted to ride a total of 100 miles before Friday night as a middle finger to aging, so I'm halfway there. Saturday was a "dawn patrol" ride where I wanted to beat the Texas heat (I didn't beat the 20-30mph Texas wind). Sunday was an afternoon ride in the heat. The wind was still blowing 15-20mph, but it wasn't terrible until the return leg due south. The ride was up to and around portions of Lewisville Lake north of DFW. My ride was a 1974 Motobecane Grand Touring.

We are supposed to be setting a new record High temperature somewhere in the low 90'sF again today. The normal temp. this time of year is 81F.
Also, the Humidity has been building the last several days, making it feel worse.

So starting today, and as long as this heat persists, I am switching my riding time from early afternoon to mid morning. This will allow me to start out after the morning rush hour traffic has subsided. And, I should be finishing up before the hungry lunch hour crowd are making their mad dashes for fast food.

Got in 100 minutes today and was drenched in sweat.

From Saturday. River Ride with a heavy north wind makes things tough. Got dropped on the Sweeper, where a tail goes to a cross, everybody gets guttered, and the whole thing blows up. Took the shortcut, caught the group again, and purposely blew myself up again going into the final sprint. https://www.strava.com/activities/1568006370/overview

Climbing practice. The sound of dozens of little roadside waterfalls made slowing down to hear creeks a must. Hot in the Seattle area = 85*F, 20*F above normal. A good excuse to go to the mountains.

47 Miles. 88°, warmest day this year. Today my body told me I can't ride hard three days in a row. Took two shortcuts home. I had to stop and rest twice on the last hour. Got home and collapsed into my desk chair. Feeling much better after a meal, lots of liquids and a shower.
I have to start using my insulated water bottles. Warm water is not refreshing!

Today I switched my ride time from early afternoon to mid morning to avoid some of this heat wave, and what a difference with temperatures about 15-20 degrees cooler.
We should be breaking another High Temp. again today reaching lower 90sF. But, a moderation into the upper 80s is on the way, maybe.....
Got in 122 minutes today.

Today's ride did not go as planned at all.
First, a pre-dawn rain shower woke me up, and I then thought that there would be no riding today, because of wet roads.
Then, by 11:00AM I noticed the roads were dry but we had ominous looking clouds in the sky. I decided to try to sneak in a quickie ride.
And Then, 1 mile out from home I got a flat on the front tire. First Flat Of The Year! I was actually expecting this yesterday after a pothole snuck up on me then.
I decided not to fix it on the spot, and just walk the bike home. Soon the thunder started on my 1 mile walk home, and the rain began as I walked onto the driveway.
So, today's exercise was a 1 mile ride and a 1 mile walk, but I lived to ride another day.

21 bike commuting miles today. Yelled ("Hey! Move over!") at a little old lady motorist who came very close to hitting me in passing on the way home. Didn't know it was a little old lady - who may have been my age - until I followed her into a church parking lot and told her about city-wide 3 foot passing law. She said "You yelled at me!" I told her I didn't have a horn and had to yell. Glad I didn't swear at a little old lady who almost hit me. And who may have been my age.

Decided to get an early start this morning to avoid the typical afternoon pop-up showers. I got in a short 77 minutes before dark ominous clouds began to appear.
This rain event is moderating the temperatures the last couple days. We are still unseasonably warmer than normal(upper 80sF), but no record setting(lower 90sF).

Thanks to all day rains we've been having, I got a chance this morning to do my first ride since Sunday. Got in 31 miles before today's rain started. Had I known it was only going to last less than 10 minutes, I would have waited it out and, hopefully, got a chance to do another 10 miles.

Got a few hours of sleep then out the door at 4:10AM today for a nice 25 miles and back in for some eats and kit change since temp was 77F with high humidity. Got back out at 8:15AM with temps up a few degrees, winds 10mph to 15mph, rains still approaching. Met the Thursday group for 5 miles worth of wheel sucking then on my own again for and additional 81 miles and got back in just before the pouring rain began. Totaled 106 miles, not too fast due to wind but felt good.

58 Miles, feeling much stronger than Monday when I had to cut 10 miles off my ride because my body won't go hard three days in a row anymore. It was supposed to be a beautiful sunny 77° day. About one hour out it started to rain very lightly, just enough to bring out that smell that comes with the first few drops of rain. I think they call it Petrichor. It was very strong. There were a lot of clouds in a blue sky, and I could see virga falling in a few places far away. I decided to keep going. The rain never amounted to more than a few raindrops, the road was still dry. The sun came out and I had a great day. Stopped where the road runs right by the edge of the very steep narrow river gorge and ate an energy bar siting on a rock enjoying the sun and the view. A perfect day.

A great place toenjoy the weather and an energy bar

I got in a quick 17 miles last night on the '74 Motobecane Grand Touring before it got dark. It had cooled down to about 92 degrees in North Texas, but I had to take advantage of calm winds!
