I thought I could beat the rain on my hill climb day. Cold frigid rain beat me up, but I finished my route. This bit of history on the way.

I've been either too busy getting my son off to college, dealing with my sister in law's passing and funeral and all the fun that comes with probate courts, and then laid up with a nasty respiratory infection that spread to my eyes to get much riding in over the last month. All that is now behind me and I was able to get back on the saddle. Since it has been a while and I didn't know what to expect, I decided to ride my normal route and just take it a little easier. The nice part about the layoff was that the brutal heat in North Texas has finally ended, and I was able to ride in sub-70F temps but had to deal with a pretty strong north wind. I got 23 miles in at a speed I was happy with after the layoff. I felt stronger than I thought I would. I just snapped a couple of shots while out and about...
A shot of the lake shore with breaking whitecaps from the north wind. It was a bit chilly out on the point.
Obligitory picture of the bike (2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1)
I'm just glad to be back out and about. Cheers!

I did another 100km ride along the Riverton to Clare rail trail today. I'll be doing it more often now while I'm still getting strength in my back. Here there's no back breaking steep hills and no crazy cars.
Time for another photo bombing.
Do you think bikes have improved in the last 60-70 years ?
Love the many new bridges. Here's just one.
My vote for the greatest gravel grinding tire.
After the ride the fun doesn't stop, I get to drive my Alfa home. Thumbs up to many images, then a smiley. Haha

What's wrong with everyone??? We've gone since last weekend without a post in this great thread.
I haven't been riding as frequently as I would like, but was able to get out today and do a quick 18 miles. I rode up to the same large reservoir I normally ride, but mixed it up and did a different area.
Here's a few shots from today's ride:
Nice shot about 2 hours after sunrise when some of the morning clouds burned off
An architecturally interesting toll bridge has been in service for about 5 years
And, the ubiquitous, obligatory bike pic taken as I took a break during my ride...
Cheers!

Some thing a bit different today. I did one of my more typical rides today 60km in total but took a side track to the Findon Skid Kids cycle speedway race meet.
When I was a kid at school during the late 70's and 80's we all knew about the Findon Skid Kids. They started in 1959 and race every weekend of the year except January also doing stunt shows at our Royal Show.
This event was to select riders for the upcoming speedway world titles in the UK. I believe it's a Commonwealth Country sport originating in the UK.
I could see the strong community and family support today that I haven't seen in a long while. You'll notice the bikes have a very specific setup for this racing. Lots of pictures here.

the road is a natural spring with fresh water gushing out. BTW. often there are restaurant staff lined up with their cars filling up huge containers of water for cooking rice.

Gotta love springs coming out of the mountainside when you're out on the bike. I have 3 springs in 15 miles on the trail I ride at home. That's unlimited water, love it. I just don't ride that trail very often any more.
My water at home is on a spring that comes out down below the house. Everyone else around me has red water. I watched them dig a new well for a new home across the road from us and the water was literally this color: I drink our water straight from the ground with no filtration at all. All I have is a pressure tank. Us and the neighbor right next to us is on this water source. Everyone else's water is that color shown above.
I can't see the water in the photo shown though....

There's natural springs in the hills here but none that are convenient to make use of which would be nice in summer while riding. Creeks have clear looking water but I wouldn't drink it.
