BIke Post Trails - G-ville NC. Pretty fun - I'm very much a rook, but progression is in the lessons (and my bloody shins!). Looks like they're clearing out some rubble for some new loops through the part that got logged too. Hell of a nice day today.

mtnbiker66 04-02-06 06:46 AM

I rode a loop in Pisgah in the AM. I went by and checked out the MTBR gathering.I came home did some things around the house and did a little guide trip at DuPont. The guys I guided work for Michelin so I'm scoring some new tires. Girlscout13 rode in Pisgah with me and went SS,his fork is at fox getting a rebuild.Weather was about 75f and sunny.Trails were great. No Pics.

Rode 16 miles (the short trail and the long trail) at Island Lake in SE Michigan. Trails were in good shape, except for a couple muddy pits.

cryptid01 04-15-06 09:31 PM

Went out with highrevs today. We took off from my house and rode Country Park, Battleground Park, Little Loop, Big Loop, and Bald Eagle trail. Total mileage: 3.0 ;)

I rode in Pisgah today Maxwell Cove to Black Mtn. I left from Sycamore Cycles and that made the climb 7 miles. The pay off is the one of the best downhills in Pisgah. It was sunny and warm 80f. Trails were dry and fast. The more I ride the Bullit the more I like it.

Scooby Snax 04-16-06 05:55 AM

Rode the Don Yesterday, most parts still too soggy, WALKED a lot of climbs.

Dannihilator 04-16-06 09:38 AM

Rode Round Valley Today.
Slight breeze and temps in the mid 60's.
Trail conditions are perfect.

mtnbiker66 04-16-06 11:34 AM

Rode Dupont today. Got my butt kicked by Chris Herndon on Burnt Mtn. I still beat him to the bottom.......he flatted Heheheheh. Weather was dry and 80f. Good times.

Good Ride

This is a link to a ride I had in which we killed a snake, did some great jumps, videotaped them, with a link to the video, and my friend almost killed himself going headfirst off a jump...

jsdan1 04-18-06 10:29 AM

rode erwin park
2 laps
20 miles
dry fast trails most of the way

Brother took the car and I didn't want to ride the 8 miles to the trail or the 8 miles back which would have added 1.5 hours onto the allready 1-2 hour ride.

Rode around the church parking lot next to where I live for about 15 minutes until I realized I hate riding on pavement. Absolutely hate it.

Took a ride up montara. Fog coming in from the coast, it was cold. From all the rain there has been like 5-10 land slides coming right over the partially paved trail. Also when I got too the crossroads the trail too the right was closed off because of demolition on devil's slide. In case your wondering what that is, devils slide is part of the coastal highway that basically goes around a cliff, beach to the right and to the left there are landslides. All the rain caused two car sized rocks to slide into the road, and now they are using explosives on the hillside. Anyways, passed a dude walking his dh bike (it was a lime green ironhorse with a massive amount of travel, fox rc2 fork I think) and went on to ignore the demolition sign just to go down that path about 100 feet to see the view of the beach. That was it for today, not a long one but enjoyable.

I rode Dupont today with my Dad. Did about 18 miles on some good single track. We got rained on about half wat through. It was a good ride anyway. It was my first ride on my fork since it got back from Fox and it worked well.

Did the Potawatomi Trail in MI, 18.5 miles. Bonked at mile 15, had to trudge on almost out of water and with a long climb in the last mile, but it was AWESOME!!

mirona 05-01-06 01:58 PM

I did the upper Yeti trail on East Mountain in Holyoke, MA. It smelled funny going up the initial climb. On descending the other side, it started getting really hot and smokey... and black. Everywhere. A huge fire must have raged through there over the weekend because everything was scorched. I could still feel the heat. Miles and miles of the area around the trail were completely black and devoid of underbrush. I'm going back tomorrow to take pictures.

Rode heritage Park in Adrian michigan yesterday. Large group, 20+ riders. Singlespeeders were tearing **** up, riding in front of the geared riders (not that it was a race, but three SS's in front of the FFG is a proud moment). I think it is hilarious that I can smoke someone who rides a full suspension, full carbon Cannondale $3,000 bike with my $500 full rigid single-speed. I love it!!!!

Spent last week in Park City, Utah (the Olympics/Sundance Film Festival/Deer Valley Park City). Hit the lower trails out around Round Valley and such - - the sagebrush foothills around PC. Wildflowers are all out and the weather was great! Most of the north slopes of the hills are too snow- or mud-covered still to ride, so I got in a lot of "out 'n backs;" but it was fun nonetheless.

All of the upper stuff around the ski hills are still snowed in, so no Town Loop or Sweeney Switchbacks or anything, but it was still all good. The place was relatively quiet, it being between ski and mtn bike season. Hope I can get back down for the Deer Valley Nats.

Also found the dirt jump park outside of town. They have a nice little setup there for people like me to hone their 'air' skills. One beginner line, an imtermediate and two expert sets - - one of which I worked up to and more or less cleaned by the end of two evenings there. All in all, PC is a great mountain biking locale; my vacation just hit it a couple or three weeks too early.

Went for a ride in the valley in Lakewood, Ohio on the offroad trails. At one very narrow point near the river, I fell off a seven foot cliff, bike and all. I'm lucky I didn't hit my head because I just had my wisdom teeth pulled last week. If I had, I would have most likely cracked my jaw. It was moist, but good enough conditions to enjoy.

trekkie820 05-02-06 08:00 AM

Lakewood, eh? I am a Mentorite. Do you ever get to venture out to West Branch or other trails? I know a really cool dude in Lakewood who rides, alias is Heckler.

Went for a burn through Fish Creek Park. It was just about perfect @ 16C, with no rain for a few days. We ran into the MOB [ladies-only riding group] and a few other riders. Andrew, Ryan and I led the way, with Jo, Heather and Camille bringing up the rear. So much singletrack, so many places to go. It was great. I got a Slurpee on the way home, blasting "Short Music for Short People" out the window. :D
