Single Pivot Full Suspension
What is everyone's thoughts about single pivot full suspension bikes like the new Raleigh ones? I'm thinking about getting once since these bikes fit my budget but I'm wondering if it will be a disappointment or if it will get me on a full suspension bike for a responsible price with some enjoyable riding.

Nothing wrong with single pivot at all - - as long as it's done right. High and a little forward like that is a well-used pivot location; a lot of completely adequate price point full suspensions have shared that same basic layout as the Raleigh over the years.

Heckler is the best bike I've ever owned. As D says...High/forward single pivot is something magical and always has been. Heckler has always been a well recieved ride in its simplicity. The refinement of dampers has only made it more perfect. Sure, a VPP may give a better percieved ride if that's the ride you are looking for, but not quite as lively and certainly more maintenance. Drawbacks IMO would be lateral stiffness due to limited contact points.
With the pivot being near the middle ring and me always only running a single chainring in the middle position at approx. 32t...I've never had any ill effects.
Either way...with an average or better damper...it's all I'll ever need for a fun ride.
