Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh, on today's club ride we did indeed ride like a school of fish. 2 x 2 on the back roads, single file on the rare double-yellow line roads.

I bet that the aero penalty of discs can be overcome with clip-on aero bars, if only we can get over ourselves and our desire to look like racers.

I'm going to start making aero carbon fiber fairings for disc brakes.

I think I got everything covered there.

I was way off on some of these, so went long on a few of the 18 intervals (disclaimer: I am aware I'm not supposed to do that, I'm guessing I won't get in trouble though because I almost never do anything like that). By the end, my favorite cool down song was on my playlist and I couldn't stop with that on.

Finally Mr H comes out onto the patio and tries to tell me I'm running over & am going to miss my train. I pretend I don't know he's there, but he knows that I know he's there. He shoves his IPhone right in front of my eyes, pointing at the time display. Time to accept reality and stop riding my bike. Its a slightly sad moment for me.

Haha. At least once a week, some "wind in your hair" type of cyclist accuses me of not knowing how to have fun on the bike. They have zero idea. Zero.

You should have converted some bikes to disc brakes.

Not far, maybe 25 -30 miles. From my house in Groveland to Canton is 32 miles. It might be shorter by bike but definitely hillier.

Ended up with 101+ miles today. I had a freaking flat about a 1,000' from the end.

Nice ride. Did you fix the flat on the road, or did you walk the 1,000' to the end first?
