Don't ask about the fuel costs. My old gf's dad was in to the whole, "going up to the lake" thing that's prevalent in MN, and he had a few personal watercraft. Lots of fun, but I was shocked by the fuel consumption, and this was when gas was hovering in the buck-twenty-five region.

That's good to hear. What kind of efficiency are we talking about now? How long does it take to kill a full tank? I seem to remember not being out for more than an hour or so before the warning light came on and we had to head back in for a break and a refill.

Cruising at around 35 mph the boat gets 7.7 miles per gallon
Cruising range ~ 140 miles, about 4 hrs cruising time.
Top speed - 66.5 mph - would probably get about 2 hrs run time at top speed, but I'm not that crazy.

I think the wheelset is about $3k, that is if they are lightweight wheels, which they look to be.

Duathlon was so much fun!
My partner and I took first place over all, 2.4 mile run with a 10.3 mile bike, then the run again. We won by less than a minute, I held 22.8 mph for the course with over 400 feet of climbing. There was another cyclist that was close behind me, he was an older man (70 I heard) with a very nice bike, TT bike with zipps, it looked very nice. On the flats he would get closer, and closer. He was maybe 15 seconds behind me, I almost blew up trying to keep him out of my draft. On the hill section I pulled to about 90 seconds ahead, but he made up for it on the downhill and flats, I was only 30-45 seconds ahead of him when I tagged my partner.
I was really amazed at his performance, I had couple of jaw dropping moments when he was still behind me on some sections. I would be lucky to still be on a bike racing others at that age, I really respected his performance.
Got our registration fee back for winning, really fun experience!

My whole day has been rain but I did spend the day in the garage cleaning my wife's bike, both of my road bikes, put a new dr hanger on our tandem and de-badged my fixed gear wheels.
Cleaning my wife's bike was a top priority because she was in Wisconsin all week visiting her sister and one of the first things she said when she got home was, "Did you clean my bike and oil the chain?"
Evidently the dumb look didn't fool her because she immediately followed it up with "What the Hell did you do all week?"

Ended up getting a 16 mile family ride in during one of the sucker holes. My wife rode with our oldest daughter in an attempt to get her some triathlon training. I stayed back with middle and youngest daughters. Riding with those two is similar to riding to the circus in the clown car.
