Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Darn, I take my concubine out for a ride through the cornfields on the golden prairie® (love this time of year) and return to find the "pro" thread locked.

I broke a spoke on an Easton front wheel, and as I like them, I decided to rebuild them with CX-Rays. Straight pull black, with Wheelsmith black brass nipples. Since the axle has to be removed to change the spokes, I tried something new (to me). Installed each spoke till the threads were just gone, then tightened to tension in a star pattern. Double checked the tension all the way around, then installed the axle and QR. Put it on the stand, and it was good in ten minutes. Granted this is a radial pattern, but it worked pretty well. We'll see how the rear goes together in a bit.

I also bought the BHS house rim, which is a 31 deep, with CX-Ray black, to go on my AC Micro 58 and 205. The Fusions have been on for 20,000, and it's time to retire them. I wanted to go with them again, but I wanted wide, so I hope these are just as bombproof.

FWIW, Brandon, at BikeHubStore.com is a pleasure to deal with.

If they were similar, you need a new dentist.

I, too had a colonoscopy without anything, years ago, while living in Taiwan. My (now ex-) wife ordered it. When she heard the pain would save us over US$200, she couldn't say no. When they inflated me, for the photo session, I cried out with a voice that I did not recognize.

Had a sweet tandem ride today. My wife got 3 new QOMs on Strava. Shhh... don't tell anyone that she was on a tandem.
