Only several times in my young life have I felt the "tunnel" as you call it. Except the nickname I give it is different. I call it the "other dimension" "Beast mode" "demon jacked" whatever you want. It gets corny but the "ultra zone" is real. Often I can feel my heart bump inside my chest and my breathing is often out of control. But the feeling is powerful and you don't want to stop. Which is what you experienced as you pushed yourself to the hardest you could.
You can practice hitting this zone with control and when you want. Just be careful!! You'll send your body into overdrive and can actually make yourself weaker by overworking yourself. As in it doesn't matter how much rest, food and stretching you do. If you muscles are having a hard time recovering after 3 1/2 days. Most likely you've hurt yourself more then you've helped. This is called over working.

Sweet! I guess this is your report of the ride you signed up for in this thread-
https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...rava-post.html
"I hope that you are happy with yourselfs. On june 1st the Parx casino Velothon will happen. I now challenge every one of the idiots to do this ride. I have never had a vendetta before, but, this kinds of warrents it. All of my 18 KOM's have been flagged. I had over 30. I will get them all back and put them well out of reach for anyone to beat."
Guess the anger drove your HR above 200 and forced you to walk the wall. Did you win?
Seriously, glad that a tough ride maybe forced you to discover a little humility with your braggadocio. Strava and "50 MPH sprints" aren't everything...

Challenge every person on the internet while 30 lbs overweight, get droped like a school girl on a Huffy, and catch a glimpse of the pearly gates all in the same week?
You are a legend

The thread title should read "Has anyone ever seen the tunnel". I think if the OP was going to use incorrect words they should have used seeded instead. Much better comedy value there.

I, too, saw The Tunnel. It was such a wondrous day. I had a bottle of wine and a bag of marijuana cigarettes, listening to Incense and Peppermints, cruising on my fixie and suddenly I saw fairies flying all around me. They put flowers in my hair, picked me up and floated me right through The Tunnel. My heart exploded out of my chest and I began to sprint at 120mph. I lost 80 pounds and actually survived!
I HAVE SEEN THE TUNNEL. MY GOD IT IS GOOD.

I asked my doctor if Having tunnel vision during exercise was a bad thing and he said, "No, that's just good sex."

...that's the scary assed tunnel when youi ride around Tahoe on the Nevada side, isn't it ? That "push the button and the lights will flash for a while" is not a big confidence builder. I saw the light once.

Nope. Different event. The one referred to in this thread was old. It happened back when the pro race in Philly was the U.S. Pro Championship. It hasn't been that in many years--long before the casino was built. It's probably been a decade or more. A local convenience store chain sponsored the event. For a fee, you could ride one loop of the race course. The entrance fee went to some charity.

I'm in shock and disbelief. Mostly disbelief. If one is experiencing the tunnel, then it probably means they are about to pass out. It shouldn't be a goal.
If I ever do see the tunnel I'll probably say, “My God, it’s full of stars!"

Still kicking.
No, because I know my limits, but I do ride through one every Saturday.

I got worried there wasn't enough chocolate glazed donuts left at the shop for our group. So I sprinted the last mile, beat everyone, and saw the tunnel at the end as I jumped the curb at 30 mph.

This tunnel is part of an abandoned stretch of PA Turnpike that is now an unimproved bike trail. It's over 1 mile long and completely dark. There is a crown near the eastern portal, which means when you are riding east you cannot see the light at the end until you get close to the eastern portal. Talk about scary. The area where this photo was taken was also used in the film "The Road," starring Viggo Mortensen.

Sure. If that's what you think of it go ahead. Sorry dude but I know my body. I may have years to go before reaching a "professional" level of riding but atleast I know how to use my energy when I want it. We'll cut it in the middle and call it discipline OK?
