Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice....I do think (not sure) that it's a raleigh bike with Panasonic decals.

I swapped out the SPDs for platforms and the Specialized Avatar for a Brooks.

I don't have anything amazing or special, but it keeps me happy

It's a '06 Scott Speedster s40 that I've bought new. I put about 1k miles on it before I broke most of the spokes on drive side of the rear wheel. Yay for me being fat and cheap machine built wheels. That's when the upgrades started I tried to stay on a budget, so all my upgrades are used. Well I had to buy a bunch of tools to put it all together also.

Specs:
-DA 7700 group
-DA 7700 hubs on Open Pros
-Look Keo A5.1
-The rest is stock

Here's how the bike sits now. The wheels haven't given me any problems It's either the good quality of components or me loosing 40 lbs.

I also just finished building a bike for my brother. It's his first bike and he didn't know if he would really get into it, which he did. The whole cost of the thing is less than $350.

I picked up a Bianchi frame of ebay. It's very light for it being steel. It's very neat, it has internal brake cable routing. The rest of the part are what I had laying around or picked up of craigslist/ebay. It was a pretty good learning experience. Pretty much I build a bike from the ground up and it works

Specs:
-Ultegra 6500 BB/cranks
-Ultegra 6500 FD/RD
-Scott Brakes of my s40
-Tiagra shifters of my s40
-Campy seat post
-Flite TI seat
-Bars of my Bianchi Pista
-The wheels are the ones I broke. I picked up "The Bicycle Wheel" and rebuilt the rear. He only weighs 140 lbs, after about 500 miles no problems so far.

The pic size is restricted on attachments. If it's too big, then it won't show up.

You can always learn to use www.imageshack.us, which allows you to upload a pic from your computer, then gives you the link that you can copy/paste here.

Two ways to do it, by hand, or by using the little yellow button that has mountains and a sun on it that says Insert Image when you hover over it.

When you get the link copied, and you are in the 'reply' window, paste the link. Then TYPE

Some beautiful bikes in this thread but this one wins for me...

My jaw dropped upon seeing it! I am looking to get a new road bike and a Bianchi is very much short listed now.

LOL! Nah, I actually prefer riding clipless, but my non-riding friend is borrowing my bike to do the 5BBT so I swapped out the pedals and saddle for something more n00b friendly and comfortable. She said if she likes riding, she might take it up. Dunno how she'll like riding an unfamiliar bike w/ unfamiliar controls 40+ miles w/o any training whatsoever. And of course, there's always the price of roadbikes these days vs. what people's expectation of price is.

Depends. Sometimes they're comfy straight outta the box and get more comfy after they've been broken in.

Been riding a hybrid for the past year.
This is my return to road cycling after 20 some odd years. Just picked this up on Saturday.
We're still in the "getting to know you" stage but I think it's love.

It's an old Norco racing frame that I just painted. I still need to get a new saddle and am waiting on new tires.
