Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This looks really nice. In this second iteration did you remove the Scattante head badge? I knew you could remove the stickers ... but I was curious about whether the Scattante head badge was removable, as well.

Thanks... I couldn't understand why they would put "scat" in their name. It sounds like "*****tante" or something ... not that there's anything wrong with the bikes, but I just didn't want that name on my new Lynskey ;-).

Any coupons available these days? People seem to have scored these frames at smokin' deals, but now the website price is back up to $999. Thoughts?

Here is the latest iteration of the bike:

Cut off the excess steerer tube, replaced the 110mm -6 degree 3T stem with a 130mm 0 degree Easton, switched out the Easton Circuit wheels for Campy Zonda 2-Way Fit shod with Hutchinson Fusion 2 tubeless tires, and got a Selle San Marco SKN saddle to replace the Specialized Toupe that was on there.

You may also notice that the frame has the stickers on it now; I had the get the old one warrantied out due to issues with the alignment of the dropouts. I haven't bothered de-stickering the new frame yet.

This bike has gone through quite a few iterations, which I haven't done a good job of documenting, but I just rebuilt the frame using parts from a "donor bike" (a BD special) as well as parts I had lying around in my garage. I didn't want to start a new post, so here are some pictures I just took to update:

All stickers removed from the frame and the wheels; titanium seatpost, a red seatpost collar, a new fork and new cockpit fitted; installed SRAM Apex parts including the medium cage RD / 11x32 cassette combo (FD is on its way). I plan on using this as my commuter now.

Ive raced mine 2 years and actually noticed the rear hangar alignment may be a slight touch off (the rear wheel isnt perfectly centered.... but not to much that I notice it riding)

I like the bike.... springy.

wonder how many of us on BF still have em? I remember there was a thread and like 5 or 6 people ran out to get em

Yeah, I would be curious to see if anyone else is still hanging on to theirs, too.

Here are a couple (slightly) better shots:
