Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

About an hour on the weekday mornings and 2-3 hours on Saturday mornings. I usually rest on Fridays and Sundays. I get in about 100-125 miles per week.

It varies between weather, seasons, work and family schedules. In the warmer months I try to average about 150 miles a week, about 50 to 120 of that on a Sat or a Sun. In the colder months on the trainer it will drop especially as winter drags on and I get increasingly bored.

I spend about half as much time on the bike as most Americans spend in front of the TV.

I used to feel that way too ... but now that I can, I don't.

When I lived in Canada, I packed most of my cycling into mid-April to mid-October, and then eased up on cycling and did other sports from mid-October to mid-April ... and usually rested quite a bit in December.

Now that I live in Australia, I could conceivably cycle the same amount year round, but by about late-May I get tired of all the cycling, and I'm ready for a bit of a break. Mid-May to mid-August the cycling is usually pretty light ... it's dark and cold in the evenings, and rains a lot, so it isn't all that appealing for cycling anyway. (But better than -40C with snow and ice. )

I hear that, I really can't find much on TV I like. If I'm not riding in my spare time then I'm either fiddling on a car or listening to the stereo.

My trainer and rollers will be in the back half of the livingroom all winter. I ride and watch tv, mainly hockey from the dvr.

45 minute commute so 1.5 hours a day, every weekday. That makes 100 miles per week (on a fixie). Whatever I can get away with at weekends, though usually only one three-hour ride.

In short, not enough.

I'm at around 10-15 hours a week at this point. Finding it difficult to go past 15.

Wow, this thread is rather enlightening.. I didn't know so many people rode so much, although the sample is skewed towards people that care enough to post in this forum.
I only get about 4-6 hours in per week. 2-3 1 hour sessions indoor since I get home late and can't ride outside, then 2-3 hours on the weekend, but not every weekend.

Definitely NOT enough.

Probably about 8-10 hours/week. A bit less in the winter and a bit more in the summer.

154 hours this year so far - most of that since end of May. I ride 4-5 times a week, 2 hours on weekdays, 3-4 on weekends.
