Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can you identify my frame?

Hi al
So a couple months ago, I picked up this steed from my local classified site. I had way to little to spend, but didn't want to get something classed as 'entry level', so I brought this guy home. Thing is, I had no idea what the brand name was. But the cheapo carbon seatpost, carbon stay and ultegra (6500!) on it sold it for me. I rode home $300 poorer.

The bike had an awful paintjob on it. The paint itself wasn't too bad, but the colour choice was simply awful. Pity I didn't take a photo of it then. It had the decals 'Team Alex', and on the seat stays was written 'www.teamalex.com.au' (yes, I'm Australian.) Googling yielded no results about the bike. I noticed a bit later that the headtube logo and the way 'Alex' was stylized was exactly the same as the 'alex' of Alexrims. Don't think alexrims made any frames...? There was the Aussie flag on the bottom of the seat tube, and somebody's signature on a sticker (undecipherable) but no 'made in ___' anywhere I could find.

I stripped the paint off with some diggers, because I'm fond of the raw aluminium look. However, as I stripped and sanded, I noticed that some type of filler was used to fill in miniscule surface imperfections in the frame in a couple of places, and a slight ding had been filled as well. I gathered from this that the 'team alex' paintjob wasn't original.

I gather the frame would be around ten years old, going by old ultegra. (I don't know bb types so not sure how that would help with the year of the frame.)

I'm really interested in finding out whether the frame is a brand name frame. I've been scouring google images and bike racks at uni to find any bikes that share the same characteristics as mine. No luck so far. Here's a quick description:
it has a carbon seat stay. The seat stay and top tube are pretty much round, while the chainstays and downtube are round tapering off to square at the bottom bracket. The join where the seat stay meets the top is curved.

Here are some pics:

The frame recognisable? I can post up more descriptors/specs if need be.
Thanks!

www.teamalex.com.au. Obviously the link doesn't work, and I'm pretty sure the site never existed in the first place.
