Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which one would you pick

So I got hit by a car yesterday. My own frame is ok but my bike was less lucky My bike is at the LBS for inspection and it could be that I need a complete new bike. Since the frame geometry is ideal for me I'd go with the same bike but which model year would you pick? Keep in mind I'm only talking about the frame not the components.
The 2013 model

Or the 2014 model

Glad you're OK!

Which model year did you have before? Since your old one was "ideal" go with the frame with identical specs. If they're both identical, go newer.

I had the 2013 model. The frame dimensions are identical just the paintjob is different. I know which one I like best but I wanted some other opinions. If I were to take the newer one, I'd get sram red 22 instead of 20 but I'm not sure if I actually need it. So I'd go for the one that looks best.

Both look nice so unless there were some changes for the better in the 2014, I'd say flip a coin?

Not even close - get the new one. MHO

And, if insurance is covering it, why not get what you want, complete********** With componentry as you want it......

Just get the quote from the LBS as to the replacement.

If I need a new bike I will get it complete. I said not to look at the components because one picture is with shimano and the other one with sram, while I'd get sram anyway.

I like the colors on the 2014 better, but get the 2013 if that's the one you like better. The bike is for you after all.

Yike! What all needs to be fixed? At that price I'd considered the frame toasted and just get a new one. Frequently the difference between mid vs high-end frame is mainly going to be weight. So if the repair adds 100-200g you now have effectively a frame that's a grade down.

-sram red left shifter
-sram red cranks
-dt swiss wheelset
-selle italia slr
-fork
-bars
-headset
-touch up paint here and there
-miscelanious small parts

LBS is going to make more money selling all those parts at MSRP.

That makes sense. I actually don't care since I'll get my prefered paint job back. Only downside is it will take a LONG time I think.

With all that damage, I would take the payout and add whatever it took to buy a new bike. Wouldn't trust that frame.

Oh, and 2014
