I just went for it and everyone seems to love it.

It is aluminum though and you can tell the difference between this and steel. It is very fun bike to ride around town.

Do you flip your flip flop.

I never used the freewheel side of my wheels, too much of a hassle to get out a wrench and get my hands dirty, I also have never found a good reason to flip it.
