Hex set screws are loose on both sides. I'm not able to get any sideways movement with the axle. So it looks like it comes down to grinding or spreading. Grinding seems safer. Thoughts?

Thanks for the good leads T-mar. The dropouts do have adjuster screw holes (with one broken off inside grrrr...). I'll check the seat post diameter once I get it out.
