Finally at the Vista trail. Learned today to never take this trail for granted. The backside of Vista, puts the cushetunk at Round Valley to shame in some aspects, fast, long, never a really level trail bed, always on some kind of slope to it, and dry and loose, yes vorhees is practically mostly dry. It's been a really long time since a trail has had me shaking by the end of it.



More of the Vista Trail, at the summit. From there it is all white knuckle descending and includes a blast through some of the nicest singletrack(Yes, singletrack on Vista) I have seen since moving back to NJ, no pics of that section will get some next time.









Still on Vista, but it finally starts to mellow out a little. The bridge there seems to be new.

Short ride today here in oregon, was supposed to rain, but we got a break.




The manzanita trees get pretty thick up here.

So THAT's what those things are - they're down here too and I had no idea... the one patch of them I know of down here is all burned from a controlled burn a bunch of years ago - they look pretty spooky.

Left the house at 9:0 pm got home at 10:30pm, Night Rides are fun althought you always seem to hit a rut here or there. I headed up Haleakala mountain through the Cane fields until I can could Pedal no more. The forcasted bad weather held off until morning. It was a nice star filled sky with a Wexing Moon. It was a blast coming down no falls.

There is still ice on the trails so I hit the deck 2 or more times a ride. It's actually become pretty routine Only about 25% of the trails iced over because of the sun being out. Went through the future rail trail and hooked up to the Comark trails. Crossed over to the 22 Tower trail and went around the ridge to the Cliffs. (which has the most amazing sunset views). The temps are supposed to be above 25F this weekend, so hopefully we'll get some melt out there.

Today I went for a short ride around Lysterfield to see the progress of the 2006 Commonwealth State Mountain Bike Course. Unfortuanly, i was not allowed through but i had a chat with one of the security guards there patrolling the entrance. He said on the day (23rd of March) there will be at least 14,000 spectators and over 100 security guards also including the many riders that will compete.

The security guard did let me have a look at the main carpark and it looks almost finished. He said by wendesday it will be all finished including the games track. On the 16th or 17th, blue_neon and I will have a ride on the games track (if we are allowed) once again before the games start. Of course we will take pictures.

Got out for 30 miles in Pisgah today. Wound up guiding for a group from Pittsburg and that was good until girlscout13 destroyed his rear derailer, oooooooo the carnage.
We rode Black Mtn/ trift cove this morning. Weather was great,some of the best riding in Pisgah. Here are some Pics.

Trail: Bull Mountain - Dahlonega, GA
Type: Single-track and fire roads
Distance: 14.5, but I only went 11.5
Reason: Couldn't find my way-missed part of it.
Aerobic difficulty: A few challenging climbs. Elevation ranges from 1640 to 2340 ft.
Technical difficulty: Not too. Roots, a few rocks, loose limbs and logs.
Duration: I spent two hours, but I got lost. (It's more than a loop.)
Comments: Located in the Appalachian foothills. Rugged heavily wooded country. I think it's a great ride, once you figure out where you're going.

This past weekend was an awesome one for me. The weather was warm with fairly low humidity and good vibes were plentiful.

Friday night after work I managed to get a couple of loops in at Country Park. CP is an awesome place, especially since I live about a mile and half from it. There is 5.5 miles of swoopy, rooty, quick single track with nice relief throughout the trial. In addition to good single track there is a city funded mountain bike park that is BAD ASS!

Saturday morning I made it out for a couple more loops at CP, which pretty much sums up my riding for the weekend. That afternoon I spent a couple of hours at the bike park with my nephew taking photos.

I don’t have any pics of the trails at CP, but I’ll work on that.

Weather: Good weather, mild 25 degrees celcius

Trail Conditions: Loose conditions with hardly any smooth singletrack. Very technical, especially at the rock garden.

Summary- Just another ride at lysterfield on the games track. Went a easier way by car through hallam north road... less riding getting to the course. Much more efficient. By the look of it they are finishing it up with all the guide ropes and buildings/tents/cables ready for the games and it should be all ready in a few days. Saw a few international riders that will compete in the games practising. Some from Canada and some from New Zealand, they are very good.

No pics, but are again this sunday. Will take shots and show what its going to look like for the games. It starts on the 23rd of March with the womens going first at 10:30am- 1:00pm and the mens starting at 1:30pm- 4:00pm. Should be good.

i hit my usual trail right after school today. i found out that i can get my bike in the car without taking the front wheel off still bugging my pearents to get a roof rack. i was out for about an hour and a half it was around 48 degrees. this is my first ride so i did a loop of a blue trail and then rode across the park and back just to see what was around. i found a tree that was like at a 50-60 degree angle. i ride up next to it and i hear a creeking noise. whoa i got outa there quik. i found some new stuff on the trails too a tree fell so someone piled logs on both sides to cross it. and it seemed like there were a couple new burms on a winding section. looking forward to getting on the trails more in the spring

Not one of my better days. I tended to stall when hitting obsticles going uphill. I had one off course adventure, three stops, but no spills today.
The trails were dusty, not many MTB's out today. I guess everyone is waiting until it gets a little warmer.

Rode the IMBA-sanctioned trail at Long Hunter State Park, yesterday afternoon. The trail was in good shape, just had a few damp spots here and there. Didn't get nearly as dirty as I thought I would. Great day to ride. Weather was cool, but not really cold(around 55°F) with the sun behind clouds most of the ride. Looks like another front moving in. Trying to get a feel for my lil' Dawgie. The trail's mostly singletrack, basically for beginners, but I didn't want to ride anything too technical on my first off-road experience with this bike. There's a couple short climbs and some nice twisties(up and down). I think the big loop's only about 6-7 miles and that's all I rode since the sun was going down. The trail's not open after sunset.

The Dawg outperformed pretty much all of my expectations. Climbs a lot better than I thought it would, especially with me on it. Brakes are awesome, tho they're takin' some getting used to on my part. Love the Marz fork! The tires are a lot more grippy than I thought they'd be. Not as good as my Michelins, I don't think, but better than many I've tried. They roll pretty fast, too. Not sure about the seat, but I'm gonna give it a few more tries before I swap it out or anything. Love my ATACs, too. There were times that I couldn't tell I was clipped in until I started pedaling.

I'm sure the guys I met at the trailhead thought I was some kind of uber-poser with my brand new Sidi Dominators, "I <3 BIKE PORN" socks, and spotless new bike. It probably didn't help any when I asked, "Trail pretty good?" as I rode by. I meant the condition of the trail, but I think it sounded like I'd never been there before. Ah, well, it was a good time, regardless.

I didn't think to take any trail pics and I was by myself(not much traffic on this trail yet), but the batteries in the camera were almost done anyway. Just a few at the trailhead:

Just to give you an idea of how dirty it was out there. Um, not very. That's pretty much all the dirt I picked up today. There's a bit of trail dust on the rear linkage, but I forgot to take a pic.

Ever huck off a 3' drop into water shallow enough to ride out and do it again? I tried that on Friday and its awesome, such a refreshing experience, getting wet is the best part but its also the worst, you should see the kind of splashing that goes on there.

Well anyways just wanted to share that with you, will take pics next time I'm up there.

Summary- [Ride report for last sunday] The best ride we've had at Lysterfield. Yesterday we discovered more trails that we haven't ridden on before which were north of the lake. There are still more trails out there that we haven't ridden on yet, but we are sure ready to check them out next time.

We were not allowed on the games track yesterday as they are fixing it all up for the games. They probably think we might wreck it but luckily they did tell us to go away, because we wouldn't have discovered those other trails... I took a few pics, but most of the time i was too busy riding.

Location: Long Hunter State Park(same as last ride report)
Trail: Jones Mill
Length:~14 miles(I think--no computer and the small loop is the only one I have measurements for)
Time: ~2 hours(nice slow ride), from 1430-1630 local time
Trail condition: Little damper than last time, but still very rideable
Weather: ~50°F, overcast with just a little sun at the end

My ride partner and I did two laps(riding the big loop) out here yesterday(Friday) to get a feel for our Dawg Deluxes. He got the same bike as mine, but his is completely stock, still. Mine has Time ATAC XS pedals, instead of Shimano. It was his first time in the dirt on his new Kona. He, and I, loved it! Trail is very easy to ride, not very technical and helps to tune in your new equipment. This was only my second trail ride on the Dawg and, I gotta tell ya, I just wanted to go faster and faster! It felt like I just couldn't get up enough speed on the DH's. I had a big grin on my face every time we'd crest a hill. This bike just flows so well!

Still not totally sold on the seat, but I don't think two rides are enough to really decide yet. The only real problem with this bike so far is the rider. Hopefully, I'll get into better shape by this summer and seriously put this thing through its paces. Can't wait to get some bigger air on it. Those 8" drops at Long Hunter just aren't enough.

where in nc is cp? i am on spring break and have been going round wit my friends to awesome places to fr.i live in chapel hill. on sat we hit up legend in clayton and did the 14 foot drop, which was more like 12. but this was on a hardtail, it was pretty sweet. but i did smack my nuts on my seat some how and they r swollen hahaaha
