Correlation =/= causation. Most creaks aren't bb's, and big tube carbon frames resonate like crazy compared to steel frames, so creaks are more boxty) noticeable. Press fit bb's showed up with carbon frames because they're a superior solution to putting bearings in a plastic resin.
Additionally bb30 is lighter, stiffer, cheaper, and I don't have data but I guarantee there's less manufacturing fallout than threads. Some companies being unable to gage bb's and some people being unable to put them together isn't a fault of the design.

Well, I already answered that, but I can go into detail for the math challenged.
My riding group =~ 12.
2 BB30s creak. (1 all the damn time and the other sometimes, especially on hills)
9 of 10 of the other BBs are either BB30 or not. (Mine is definitely not, I have not taken an exact count of Specialized and Dales, I've only noticed who is making annoying noises and looked at what they are riding)
Based on my limited sample size:
Worst case 2/2 = 100% failure
Best case 2/11 = 18.2% failure
where failure = making enough noise that other riders want to throttle you.
