2 hour ride including 5x4' intervals wanted to puke during 4 and 5 lol.
I have a full weekend of racing coming up so the rest of the week will be easy.

@hubcyclist Here is a link to a Stanford Edu paper on genetics and human performance. If you scroll down the paper, you will find genes that have been associated with athletic performance. You can take the SNP and copy it into the raw data section of your 23andme.

When you run the 23andme software, it will give your your trait. For example, ACT3N, the SNP is rs1815739 and the possible traits are CC TT CT. CC means one has two copies, CT one copy and TT no copies. A copy of the C trait is a likely sprinter.

The 23andme traits section does this for you for specific traits and provides discussion. If one couples the Stanford paper (that uses 23andme trait notation) with 23andme raw data, you can produce one possible athletic profile for yourself.

I already know I suck. I don't need DNA analysis to confirm that.

this is what I was thinking. I wouldn't believe any report unless it told me I had like 0% fast-twitch muscle.

I think it would add some comfort to the suck though ... "I can't help it, I'm genetically limited". Next time someone tries to elbow flick you through, just hand them a sheet of paper presenting your genetics.

I don't need a sheet of paper to know most of the people I race against are "genetically limited"...

I am glad you all like the genetics article. The next time I have something innovative, I will show it to a bag of hammers and see if I get a different response.

I did basically the same thing on the trainer last night. More trainer this afternoon. Winter. I eagerly await the return of DST.

That's how I know I'm doing them right #4 is usually the worst for me. Every time I've done that sort of workout, I've been on the very edge of puking.

You could come to my track session on Sunday where we will be doing motor work. But it is a long drive.

lol, I'll be right there!

There's a low traffic mostly flat 6-7 mile stretch of road up near where GC lives, and I've got a friend with a motorcycle that lives about a mile from it. So it looks like this is gonna happen...

2x30'. Quarq is still in transit from Spearfish, so I did it by speed and heart rate on a known course. Training like it's 1975.

I did my usual recovery ride Monday, then another recovery ride Tuesday when my schedule got cramped. Now it's Wedneday and I should be doing my TT workout (rode the bike in and everything) but it's like 54f and I forgot a vest so I'm not sure I can go outside.

If I had packed the right clothing this wouldn't be an issue.

It was 35F when I left the house this morning. I couldn't find my beanie so I stuck an old knee warmer on my head. I had to fold the top a bit to get it to fit under my helmet. But it worked so well that I'm going to cut the elastic off and trim it up a little.

Phoenix is still broken. Saw 24 degrees on my Garmin at one point during my morning ride. I'm not doing any more morning rides until it gets above 40!

I think 24 in the desert feels like 35-40 in NY. The wet air in upstate NY chilled me to my bones. I felt like I couldn't get warm, for months on end.

In other news, new 10min max PR. My legs felt like garbage for a couple of days, and then I rode outside for the first time in a couple of weeks. Decided to give 'er a little gas, and like some sort of bike magic, a new PR.
