Done em both. Love TR for the workout structure as i dont use a coach but like to ride every day. Also, dont have a power meter but do have a kickr. Pretty easy to customize if you plan on a big weekend outdoors etc.. I want to go back to zwift as well just as an additional interface for longer indoor rides. I enjoy watching movies, grand tours etc. but i think having other "people" surging around a course on zwift will be beneficial for my mental state! If you could only pick one for $10 a month i'd go TrainerRoad without thinking twice.

Thanks for the input. I signed up for TR and have completed 2 workouts, seems like a pretty solid program.

Loved TR when I was using it w/ my Kickr. I particularly liked being able to make custom workouts.

Moody Tuesday, still got congestion. One all out effort was 394 for a bit under 4 minutes. Prob about 49 or 50 watts short of normal due to phlegm in the lungs. Just rode to work after, with a few random hill efforts thrown in. 3 hours, about 180 TSS.

Trainer road and Zwift have different strengths. TR is more mature and is focused on personal workouts with scenery. Zwift is more of a social platform that emphasizes group rides and races. The races are the real deal.

I actually skipped riding yesterday?!?! It was like a 160w putt-putt and it was gross out so I blasted metal and did some air guitar for a couple of hours instead.

Today I ride awkwardly on a borrowed TT bike so I can pretend I'm well prepared for the KSR ITT. 2.5hrs with short snips of ftp and one 12ish min tempo thing.

did some 1' intervals last night. total of 4.5 hours on the bike yesterday. my 1' power is such ****. short power intervals are going to be a huge focus following KSR before intelligentsia

super super easy spins the next two days.

3.5 hours of z1/z2 today. 191 TSS......felt much better than last week's LSD attempts, maybe I'm finally getting rid of the post-vacation hangover.

Also, found out I'll be coming off of night shift and going back to a normal Mon-Fri work schedule next week, so I get to have normal sleep patterns like a normal human being.....marginal gains.

One of those golden days when 300 felt like 270. If I could put that in a bottle and sell it, I'd be a very rich man.

My coach and I discussed the KSR ITT this afternoon and our carefully considered conclusion was: I'm boned, so don't sweat it too much.

It feels like it works in the "I wish I had borrowed this bike 2 months ago" sort of way. It's definitely faster than road bike with clip-ons at least, so it's not a total lol. I figure I'll finish the TT in 40th instead of 70th haha

why are you screwed? how long is the final climb on day 2? isn't it roughly comparable to the length of the TT?

i realize you are light, but small frame = low CdA.

yeah...there's a little thing called adaptation....

win stage 2 by enough and your TT is less important!

i really wish he'd just make the tt merckx style like GMSR. it's literally the only reason to own a tt bike for new englanders, unless you race dedicated TTs. just not justifiable.

To you.

Edit: Me too, I don't ever plan on owning a TT bike. Other people certainly like the option though

Since I am in a mid block semi recovery week, I decided to dust of the mtb I bought at the end of last year. My fourth ever ride on a mtb and first in 5 months served up lots of fun and a handful of bumps and scrapes. It feels like I'm driving a monster truck compared to my road bike. So different but still fun.

That would be cool. But we just bought a TT bike for a song with PM. And we are doing giro del cielo this year.

I rode the new TT bike yesterday but pressed stop on the garmin instead of lap. So it auto shutdown while I was riding. Always fun.

career low 145 pounds. I haven't been this light since, well, since I passed this weight on the way up in like 8th or 9th grade.

Screwed in that I'm likely to lose minutes. Which I highly doubt I'm going well enough to gain on the stage 2 climb! It's not that I think I'm constitutionally incapable of TT'ing well, but you get out what you put in and I've put in nothing. Not even clip-ons!

I don't think they should make it a non aero TT though. I don't think those are really such a great idea. That's part of the game, there should be at least one race where it's allowed to matter.

I agree, itt is a legit discipline and rewards watts + extreme attention to detail. I'm hoping to be able to buy a decent rig this year, there's purity in turning yourself inside out solo that I really appreciate. It's annoying that what I can do on flat ground on a road bike is like 30w higher, but this is why attention to detail and practice matters... a well rounded cyclist needs to be able to do all the things.

I've just about decided to do the Cielo TT on my road bike. A friend has a TT bike I could borrow for a month but it just seems silly to use a special piece of equipment for one race a year.

Your jammer bars are the best of both worlds! You get to keep your road position and be reasonably aerrrooooo. Also I've got an extra skinsuit that would probably fit you, no logos except Verge.

I'm very glad that North Star's TT is Merckx style.
