why was Greg Lemond recording phone calls? and did Stephanie whatshername know
she was being recorded?

It will be really interesting given the allegations of Lance's power (and all of US cycling who
really support him, from Och down), to see what happens to young Stephanies career
after this. . .

FWIW, her testimony at the recent trial contradicted Lemond's allegation. Did she give false testimony or is GL seriously wacked?

after reading through all this, and I'm sorry if I missed it, but have the two doctors that asked the questions been produced yet?

No, but they were reportedly wearing white coats and name tags.

seems to me, if you were one of those doctors you'd remember asking LA these questions. So where are they? Hiding?

Seems the crux of the biscuit resides here.

When you read the transcripts from the testimony you could easily answer the question the way McIlvain did with out lying.

QUESTION: Were you ever at a hospital room or other part of the hospital with Mr. Armstrong where he said anything about performance-enhancing drugs?

MCILVAIN: No.

QUESTION: Do you have any recollection of any doctor in your presence asking Mr. Armstrong if he used in the past any performance-enhancing drugs or substances?

MCILVAIN: No.

Two things, I guess...

1) Robert DeNiro's film A BRONX TALE has a scene where the little kid protagonist is having a chat with the local mob boss; kid is down in the dumps, mobster asks kid why, kid says he's a Yankee fan and Mickey Mantle is in a slump. Mobster asks kid if he thinks Mickey Mantle cares if the kid's dad has a bad day, if Mickey Mantle gives a ____ about anybody but Mickey Mantle.

2) The only people whose eyes aren't stinging from the smoke are the people whose heads remain buried in the sand...

After the new allegations made against Lance Armstrong by French newspaper Le Monde, according to which Armstrong admitted in 1996 that he had used performance-enhancing substances before his cancer illness, the seven-time Tour de France winner strongly denied the accusations. Armstrong's attorney, Tim Herman called the claim "absurd", and Dr. Craig Nichols, who treated Armstrong at Indiana University Medical Center when the Texan was ill with testicular cancer, also refuted the statements.

. . .

Dr. Craig Nichols, who was also heard in the trial, has said that he did not recall Armstrong to have said that he had used banned substances in cycling. In a sworn affidavit, Nichols said he and other medical personnel visited with Armstrong that day about his medical history before he started chemotherapy.

"Lance Armstrong never admitted, suggested or indicated that he has ever taken performance-enhancing drugs. Had this been disclosed to me, I would have recorded it, or been aware of it, as a pertinent aspect of Lance Armstrong's past medical history as I always do," Nichols said. "Had I been present at any such 'confession,' I would most certainly have vividly recalled the fact," Nichols said. "I would have recorded such a confession as a matter of form, as indeed, would have my colleagues. None was recorded."
Italics are mine.

well there you go. . .

That quote is different than what is quoted from his afidavit.

Armstrong's primary cancer doctor, Craig Nichols, submitted a sworn affidavit in the case saying, "I have never seen any evidence, either from myself or any other doctor, that indicates Lance Armstrong admitted, suggested or indicated that he has ever taken performance-enhancing drugs."

I think this is referring to use prior to Cancer Diagnosis, of course there is no proof and
no way to verify either way.

edit: this is what happens when I sit in edit mode for 10 minute, Red and I state same thing.
The statement I read in the past, and was recently reiterated in cyclingnews.com was, "Both Frankie and Betsy Andreu had testified that they heard Armstrong confess past use of performance-enhancing drugs (EPO) in a hospital when he was treated for cancer in 1996.

I have had five members of my family succumb to cancer in the last 10 years. All took chemo and all took a form of EPO to help them create red blood cells.

This is not news, unless you are a dumbass journalist.

If you can't make it at Wal Mart or White Castle, you can always become a newspaper reporter. Or the next Dan Rather.

Marty, I know Craig Nichols...not well, but well enough. Larry Einhorn as well.

They do not lie.

Armstrong's attorney is stating, in a roundabout way that Lemond may have lied under oath.

That's perjury.

Greg needs to shut his mouth. Before really bad legal things start happening to him.

The only guy that get's off lieing under oath is Bill Clinton. Of course, he's been disbarred. For perjuring himself.

You may think this is funny...the three friends of mine that survived testicular cancer, do not.

I suspect that if you are ever afflicted with this disease, your sense of humor may change.

A lot...after surgery when you are puking your guts out after a round of chemo.

You need to re-read the article. The Andreu's are state that Lance said he used PED's before he was diagnosed.

You apparently know little about Dan Rather.

This is the same old same old. Someone makes an allegation against Armstrong, someone else makes a refuting allegation. Smoke. No fire. The doctors don't seem to think it happened, so we're left with only the word of a friend of Armstrong's ex-wife, her husband, and a bitter rival whose record Armstrong broke. On the other side, we have Armstrong's medical staff.

The ex-wife's friend says she came forward just because she was subpoenaed, but how did they know to subpoena her? Was this story in L.A. Confidential? Did she go to the media? Is this really a new story?

The real villain in this is SCA. Essentially, they are legal bookies. Here, they promised to pay if Armstrong won 5 TdF's. He did, but they tried to weasel out of the deal. Would you place bets with a bookie who tries to avoid paying when you win?

No matter what side you were on before this, there is nothing here to move you to the other.
