beaking away is the best coming of age movie that happens to involve cycling. It's not a cycling movie. American Flyers is a pretty poor movie, but at least it is a cycling movie. Its the best hollywood, fictional, cycling movie almost by default. A lot of the other stuff listed in the thread is good, but my impression of the Op's intent was not including documentaries.
Excluding documentaries, for fictional movies that are really about cylcing, rather than using cycling as a backdrop, and excluding foreign films not widely distributed in the US, American Flyers wins, almost by default

Key Exchange - a well acted drama with a plot built around two guys who do some bike racing while experiencing a mid-life crisis. Features one of the guys who was in Breaking Away, the tall gawky dude, not the star. Features Brooke Adams looking really foxy.
Stars and Watercarriers. Same genre as a Sunday in Hell, only about the Giro in the early 70s. A total classic and you've got to see it, really captures the essence of the Giro in that era. It is a very different race now.
The Bicycle Thief. A great existential drama about this guy who has a bike to do a job, but it gets ripped off so he becomes out of work with a family to feed (he has ~10 year old son). Then he goes through this life-journey as a result. No racing but great stuff with a bike theme.
American Flyers. I still can't understand why the bearded Russian with the beer gut didn't win the race.
Hard Road is 'just okay.' You can get it from Netflix, and it is worth the rental, but I'd be oh-so-po'd if I'd gone and paid like $35 for it. I mean it is a documentary that you'd think would have some drama in it, right? But the drama is almost non-existant. And the people in the movie are hard to like (due to the way it is portrayed) so it isn't like all that engrossing.

Overcoming is pretty good, kinda reminds me of Some Kind of Monster. I wish they showed more of Riis in the car though, barking instructions.
Any suugestion for documentary that shows alot of the behind-the-scenes stuff on the races?

It is my favorite pic.. It made into our local paper and was 1/2 page in size.. The photographer won an award for it.. I was chasing down a 2 man break at the time.. Caught them and my teammate and I worked the other rider over and finished 1-2.. I was 2nd place...
The Gios was a fantastic bike, great crit bike...

To be honest, there aren't that many (fictional) cycling movies out there that are any good.

Just watch the old and new races... plenty of drama
Drama, good characters, suspense. Thrill of victory, agony of defeat.... Go to https://www.worldcycling.com/merchant...VideoLand.html and get some of the dvd sets of real races.
Also, Pro: The Movie is very good about the US Pro Championships.
Who needs Hollywood's take on these when there is real life drama right there to watch?
- The 2003 TdF; Lance's closest call to losing the tour
- 98 Giro: Pantani, nuff said
- Most of the northern classic races like Fleche, Roubaix: Boonen, Hincapie, those freakin' cobbles!
- Lemond's Tdf victories, even when his own team was against him or when he was riding with pellets from a hunting accident still in his body?!!

The 2nd disc in the Overcoming set. "Jens".
Jens: "I'm in the first line...I'm going to get gOOOOOOOiiinggg"
-------
Riis: "That boy is completely nuts. Absolutely".

The Quest
The short trailer is easier to download...but if you can get it to work, the extended version is worth seeing and will give you a feel for the film.
Also, they have the old Cannondale ads on this page...
