You might try lowering your rear fender mounts to just above the dropouts. It makes a bigger triangle out of the mounting and will shimmy a bit less on bumps.
thanks wr. i tried fidget the Crud Racers, but it seems like it just doesn't like the Caad frame that much. This was the only way i could make it not to make any sort of noise, and I even had to cut off the part in front of the brake in order to make it fit. Though when I tried to fit the Crud Racers on my Giant OCR, they fit like a charm. ugh, stupid tight brake clearance

The handlebar was the latest addition to the puzzle, and i think i really like them over my old ergo bars. the shifters had to be angled way high so that i can grab them in the drops

stupid specialized hasn't gotten them to me yet. i tried the Romin & the Toupe. The toupe was okay for anything for seated climbs, and the romin was just painful. The guy at the LBS said i should learn to climb standing in order to relieve the pain caused by the thin padding of the toupe, to which i replied, "i waste too many watts doing that when i'm at 160lb"

There was a guy who came out on our group ride last year with no seat post. I thought he had taken it in to the shop or something but the other rider he was with said he rode from Brooklyn up to Strictly's that was because he was training, apparently that's the kind of training they did in Jamaica. The Toupe was a torture device for me though I think the shop got the assometer reading wrong because they gave me the 143mm and I find myself comfortable on the 130mm. Which is your LBS?

My LBS is Modsquad on Frederick Douglass & 114, but i go to Toga for my Specialized purchases. I wanted to get a specialized saddle as I can try as many of them as i want until i find the right one.

Just swing for it. It's worth it and you can sell it for what you bought it on ebay if you don't like it. Seriously, best saddles ever in every position.

Just don't buy one with stitching on the side. It'll destroy your shorts.

I like the SMP strike composite. It's a full carbon saddle with ti rails, but it has a leather cover. I love love love it.

I've built a weight weenie race bike by accident. I just keep accumulating parts, and the latest thing was this set of Reynolds KOM tubulars with a Powertap hub in the rear. Mounted them up on my Element Six, weighed it... 14 lbs. 12 oz, with Powertap and timing chip, ready to ride!

I now weigh 12.5 times as much as my race bike...

I thought there's no way they were worth the price... then I got one.
yep, all my road bikes have them now (I have a composite and an evolution).
if you wait and look around you can find them cheaper used, I've got two that were 95% new, no marks or anything, total outlay of $190.

race bike #2
moved the veloce off the cervelo, put athena 11 on that.

10 caad 9 bb30
campy veloce all around, deda cockpit, old timey selle san marco saddle, real design supersonic carbon 40s.

10 caad 8 cross 6
pretty much stock, swapped the tiagra shifters for 10 speed campy lever rowing through 9 speed shimano derailleurs. will probably go tubeless soon, have a campy ultratorque crank waiting to go once i mod the cross rings to fit.

cost. the 10 speed veloce was what i had, so it got pushed down. the cervelo deserved something better so i got 11 for it. the caad9 is using an american classics conversion cassette since i only have one campy splined wheelset. 9 speed on the cross because it's a shimagnolo hybrid. 9 speed for mud, and my preferred campy ergos. eventually the caad 9 will get 11 also.

Very cool, are they out of Ohio? I've seen their jersey a total of like 3 times in '09, and once at the Cinci UCI race last weekend.

Yeah, mainly Columbus. There are only 12 members, but they work well together and have quite a few podiums the past few years. Dayton treated me well, I just needed a change. I just wanted to get away from the 150 person team as there was just too much "clutter" when 15 teammates show up and only 7 of us go with the same plan. We'll see I guess.

Sounds like a better deal, maybe I'll see you around next year. We'll both be riding Felts, as I just got on RGF.

Ditched the Cervelo S2 as I'd always hankered after one of these frames and got an opportunity to buy that was too tempting to resist... Frame/fork and chorus group/Deda finishing kit for 1100 UKP! Got the wheels for a little less than that and went from there...

I love it, I really do. Gorgeous autumn morning here in Blighty today so I had to take some pics!

Hoping to win a couple next year on it!
