Gimbels is for Wussy.

I'm shaking in my Sidi's, pcad. Or I would be if I had Sidi's.

What botto said. Tis the off season. The womens, the beers, they intrigues me. Especially on saturday nights. Which means the Nyack ride is too early for your poor narrator.

More importantly, I'm home right now. About 2.5 hours from the nyack ride. I'll crash the Pcad party soon enough. See you in late January.

It's going to take a lot of booze to remove that from my memory. Fortunately I have a lot of booze.

It takes a real man to ride with a 12" band of pink just above the business part of his ass. Being Greek does help of course.

I should check it out sometime too. But it's hard to justify a long drive when I have such good roads right here.

I've done SG a few times many years ago when visiting my brother in New Haven ...

Now I'm near Danbury, and ride on my own, on the Bethel Sat ride, or Sunday with a few other guys that like fast, hilly rides up north.
Family life discourages me from getting out as much as I'd like.

The Nyack Ride ballistic factor can vary quite a bit depending on who shows up, the route that day (longer and somewhat hilly at the end in summer, flat, shorter in winter) and how angry the peloton is. On a tough day it's reminiscent of a fast 35+ road race. On a real fast day it's like a friggin Vuleta stage. To me anyway. When your speedo reads '32.5 mph' on relatively flat terrain and you're getting gapped, it's fast. That actually did happen to me on that ride 2 years ago.

The fastest guy I've ever seen on that ride is Roger Aspholm. Look him up on USA Cycling. The only reason Roger never turned pro is the pay sucks. If Dr. W. ever shows up I may just take the Advil and go home.

Roger is a beast. I love having him on my team! As for the advil, you will have to pick the weekend, but I will take some time off just to have the Pcaddy ride me into the ground. It might be fun.

The thought of having to chase Dr. W. makes my back hurt. Don't make me reach for the oxycontin, I have some in the drawer upstairs. I wonder if it's still good after three years?

I'm seriously getting too old for this ****. I should take up a nice Wussy sport like golf. Frankly I'd rather get hit by a Ford pickup truck. It will be lovely riding weather today: temps in the 20's with wind gusts to 35mph.

I was reading something that reminded me of this hip-shaking demonstration. pcad, you might want to look into your bike fit and/or muscle imbalances (maybe strong legs and weak core). That rocking cannot be good for your back.

The more core work I do the less my back hurts. If I can ever get a six pack going on, maybe my back would stop hurting. I'm not sure I want to do 400 sit ups every day. I'm going to the gym tonight I'll do an extra set of inverted crunches with the 25 lb plate on my chest.

stability ball crunches and v-ups work better for that sort of thing, pcaddy. Works your whole core.

Where is this Nyack ride? It looks like they keep making right turns around someone's subdivision.

It also looks like they're not going very fast. Could be the cam angle.

I don't start from there, I hate the rollout. I park at Piermont Bicycle Connection and pick up the ride
about 6-7 miles south of Nyack on Piermont Road. It's roughly a 38 mile loop, average speed typically 22-24mph, so it's about a 1 hour 40 min. ride, gets back to Nyack around 11AM (rolls out at 9:15 or so).

Ride start time moves to 8AM the Sunday after Daylight Savings Time starts again (in early March). The ride also gets about ten miles longer and somewhat hillier then, the route changes. This time of year it's pancake flat.

Thanks. I'll try to make it up there for the start one of these weekends. Usually I ride from NYC up to Nyack.

If you're familiar with the Runcible Spoon coffee shop, Nyack Bicycle is half a block north, just across the street. I'll be there tomorrow, but as I said not at the shop, you'll see me 5-8 miles up the road when I join the ride.

I'm there almost every weekend.

Yeah, I've passed that shop before. OK, now I just need to motivate to get to Nyack early enough for the ride.
