Yes. Definitely.

But it means we should choose someone on a ProTour team, rather than a domestic team.

I could see us going either way. Domestic team would mean more races in the US vs protour, the majority of BF'ers are in the US.

My vote is for Iñigo Cuesta...

https://www.velonews.com/article/8693...g-strong-at-40

Seems like a hell of a guy. 16 years in the peloton, humble, new team this year, etc.

Whomever you pick, I will find him, interview him, and make sure he knows the spotlight is on him.

Don't pick Lance.

Pick the guys on the U.S. continental teams. Lots of paint/chalk on the roads, get your buddies to hold signs.

Jeremy Powers, spurred on by unexpected band of groupies, goes on mad breakaway in the mountains and wins the stage. "Seeing my name plastered all over the course was so cool; I just had to go for it."

Let us know who you pick so we can see his name when we watch the ToC on Versus.

We should also flood CyclingNews/VeloNews/Pez/whoever with emails asking about our "chosen one"

I am totally down with this idea. Please keep me up to date on our selected BF rider of the year.

I speak French and Italian (well, some Italian), so that could give some range.

I was thinking a short name would be good for chalking-on-the-road purposes, but João Miguel da Silva Correia is kind of getting my vote.

Even though he probably speaks better English than most of us, it would be kind of cool to yell something to him in Portugese.

Rory Sutherland? Don't you think he's a bit too famous and highly-touted? He's the second most famous rider on his team. I think he's great, but surely not an unheard of domestique.

Joao is a great guy. I really hope he does well. I have had the fortune of racing against him a number of times this past season. He gets my vote, but will do just fine with English.

I vote for either Cyril Dessel or Sylvain Chavenel.

I love guys who only go to the front once a year, on Bastille Day!

More info on Ken Hanson. In addition to being a great guy and a coach and advisor to the UCSB cycling team, he was the Lantern Rouge in the 2007 ToC. How could you not cheer for him?

Hansen saw it as an eye-opening experience. Of the big-time pros, "they're definitely touchable. In order to be as good as them, you have to get your feet wet." The team is hoping to race Tour de Georgia, if it happens, then go over to Europe for several weeks, the Tour of Utah, and the inaugural Tour of Missouri. They want to become players in the biggest races in the US.

OK, him.

Will he know that we're doing this? Will he know to look for the Ken Hanson fan club and watch the road for Ken Hanson graffiti?
