Newton's Revenge - A Bike Race Up The Mt. Washington Auto Road...
My first top podium spot...
It was nice to be up there...
Even if it was a depleted age group result...

tuesday night TT... 20km
one of the heavy hitters didn't show up and this one had two big climbs in it so...
2nd place... yay me. I still am more than 2 minutes off the pace of the fast guy though.

B training crit today.
Went for a prime and gave a good sprint. Blew up right after though. Was hanging otb and trying to chase the pack down and slowly slowly fading. I couldn't gain any ground on them and I was dying because it was so windy.
One of the 'helpers' for the B race gave me a push and yelled at me. I almost didn't make it back to the pack even after that.
But once that happened, I hung on. Finished 3rd.
New 1 min power record at 560 W. I hit almost 900 watts for the 30 second effort in the prime sprint.
Made my usual noob mistake in crits. Determined NEVER to let that happen again, it was too close this time.

Edit:
One of the most fun parts about going for that prime was that team 'blue' had a 3 man leadout going and I flew by them since I started sprinting way early. Had atleast a bike length or two on their guy even after a leadout.
Of course, I went up the shielded side since it was a sprint with a pretty nice headwind. I still hit 36 in that sprint.

I was at 260 watts 40 minutes into the race and struggled to the finish...
I think there was some muscular fatigue as my cadence was exceptionally low. Usually I climb between 85 - 90...
Also interesting was my HR which was 171 for the last 30 minutes but 173 for the prior 30 minutes and I climbed last year at 175...
I may not have put out my best effort...
I will be doing another race in August, it will be interesting to compare...

The big mistake was a, you guys guessed it, pedal strike in the last lap. This one was bad though. I was so pissed at myself. Someone behind me blew a tube on the corner as well, and I thought it was me. I almost sat up following. I was terrified turning the next corner because I thought my rear was dead and I didn't want to sprint since I still wasn't sure if it was my rear wheel or not.
I'm never making that mistake again. No more pedaling through turns for me. The .05 seconds of advantage it gives me, I'll just use as a rest insteas. Eff it. I'm so pissed at myself...
This is the first time in a race that I felt that I endangered myself and everyone else. I'm not okay with that.

I must admit, though, that I'm currently racing a bike with 170mm cranks, and it's freaking me out a bit. I feel like they're about 5 inches longer, not 5mm! I can't wait to get back to my real racing bike with 165mm cranks. Not to mention a few other perks, like integrated shifters and brakes that don't suck.

Always the lance remarks. Always. Can't mention cycling without Lance, because the sport didn't exist in ******* before him.
Still cool to see it on the news though.

Yeah, the photo won't be as good as you remember it anyway.

Sounds like botto let the stronger guys duke it out for the win? Whether he won or not, he is faster than my "Cat 4 ass" from what he states here on the forums...
