Here's the difference between most pocket carry pumps and a properly functioning CO2 system:

Pump - pff, pff, pff, pff, pff, pff, pff ad nauseum for 10 minutes until tire is inflated enough to not cause a pinch flat.

CO2 - pffff. The entire process is over and done with in 5 seconds, with 90 psi of rolling magic.

I fully understand gsteinb's anger about this topic on that score.
Masters doping ? I'm shocked ... shocked I say .... what a surprise ...

Check the Cat 3 field while you're at it.

You need to try it with a real pump. HPX or RoadMorph. It does take 100 strokes (less than a minute -- even faster if you're still single or in a bad marriage), but you can get it up over 140psi with either pump. CO2 is faster (on the ride).

One thing I hate, is errands. Buying cartridges is an errand in a store I'd never otherwise walk into, and makes me hate the CO2 solution without other consideration. Aside from that, I'd have to carry a pump anyway in case I ran out of air.

most depressing part is that if you add rtc's, umd's, and your total amount of amount of time on the bike, i'd still trump you.

Probably true. Flatlander.

Alternate retort: But not Pcad.

p.s. Just know that if you ever find your way out west, you'd be treated royally. As well as be put to some tests.

The very remote rides I do alone do include a frame mount pump. Otherwise I'm happy with the CO2 system I have, which has been used twice in 3 years, both times not far from home. I always carry a spare tube, and a patch kit.

Can we please talk about Sub being stranded and begging for a spare tube along the road?

Well, since I don't have such great values for Hematocrit (43.5) and Hemoglobin (14.8) I figure I should probably do a full iron panel. Hemochromatosis is a possibility, especially considering that I have not been feeling all that great lately. Apparently it could also mean deficiencies in B-12 or Folate.

serum Iron was 195 btw

Your hematocrit is fine. 43 is really more like the upper end of normal. Mine usually runs between 39 and 41 depending how hard I've been pushing myself.

+1 on 43 being high-normal. Training will bring it down significantly, even if you're normally at a high level.

I'd test at 47-49 much of the time (which just goes to prove hematocrit doesn't mean diddly in the scheme of things), but when I wasn't working and riding more, I was at 46 or something and thought something was wrong.

Now I don't have excuses to get physicals so I have no idea what my hematocrit is.

Unless you're doing something weird, the iron/hct are related/correlated.

I just raked my arm wound against a metal computer case and reopened it pretty bad. There was a huge hunk of skin and scab hung on the corner of the case. I laid on the floor bleeding and my daughter brought me a dirty dish rag.
