Thanks, but I'm really not challenged by the size of the budget, just getting the line-items on there. Right now, I'd rather focus on the road racing maintenance and building up my photography bag. If I got an extra $3k out of nowhere right now, I still wouldn't spend it on TT stuff. It's just that when the mortgage is paid off, it will be silly not to expand the stable a bit.

I finally found a pair of dress shoes that fit!

Yay! CK NY shoes. They're the first pair of 'long' instead of rounded (oxford style) shoes I've had, and I'm still feeling a little weird walking in them. That might have something to do with the fact that the soles are slick (leather) though...

My wife went. But they didn't get to watch the game. They were shuttled in and out like the president was in there.

DKNY?

I'm a big fan of DKNY For Men. I have a 10 year old pair of wool gabardine dress slacks from them --- still looks great and will never go out of style.

Sorry Meant KC: NY. Kenneth Cole, NY. They weren't that expensive either. Happened to be on sale, and I got 10% off. Yays!

Though I've been disappointed with the gap khakis I bought. I thought gap was good quality, but... The zipper on one of them keeps getting stuck and on the other one, it looks like the stitching near the pockets is coming apart a little bit. Not okay...

Okay, you guys are the Droid experts, I need some help! I walked to work in the rain today, with my phone (Motorola Droid) in my backpack, in the front pocket along with some other stuff. It got a little bit of moisture on it (like seriously a few drops on the front, about what my iPod gets when I have it in my jersey pocket and I sweat), but it wasn't soaked so I didn't think anything of it.

Come lunchtime I go to check it and it won't turn on and the little water damage indicator thing is red. Is that much water really enough to destroy it? Anything I can do besides sticking it in a bag of rice or am I going to be shelling out $600?

I carry a ziploc bag at all times for this very reason. If it rains, or drizzles, the phone's going right in there.

I hope the rice works for ya!

Just watch The Twilight Zone: Escape Clause.
Best line:

Ethel Bedeker: Walter, please, come back to the apartment. I'll make you potato pancakes. Remember, you used to always love potato pancakes.

Walter Bedeker: Ethel, you are a potato pancake.

that sucks. my first iphone got wet in a similar fashion while hiking. it wouldn't work at first but after a day it dried out and appeared to work fine. it eventually went south, but there was no way to tell if the water is what caused it. irregardless by that point I eligible for a new phone.

whenever you get electronics wet, the best thing to do is immediately pull the battery and then let it dry for a while. Just being wet generally won't hurt it, unless it's salt water, being wet while being energized will.

Thanks guys. I took it apart as soon as I realized what had happened and it's sitting on my shelf now...going into a bag of rice as soon as I get home. Then I guess I'll try to turn it on in the morning and see what happens.

put everything in a bag of rice & let the rice soak up the water. It probably won't hurt to pray to whatever deity your believe in.

edit: someone beat me to the punch w/ the rice thing.

FWIW, it was pouring sideways two weeks ago, and a few teammates & i went out even though i warned them it was probably gonna rain hard. Sure enough, it started raining sideways on the return leg, and i turned off my phone, hoping that nothing would happen (all the while knowing that i should have brought a zip-lock bag). Thankfully, not much water seeped in.

It wouldn't hurt to put it next to an exhaust fan if you have a PC (even a notebook) on your desk. Taping it to the top of an LCD monitor is also a good way to dry things out a bit. Will give you a head start before you hit the rice.

I always put my cell phone in a ziplock when I go out riding now. My sweat is enough to kill a cell phone and it has.

Any "prop heads" in here ever use Windows Installer from the developer end? It looks easy enough, but am I fooling myself?
