there are some android apps for that - I'm going to start using one of them when I start up my long-winter rides. (there was a thread about this at some point? or use "the g00gles")

On the way home from my ride I decided to stop at a french bakery at the bottom of my hill. Turns out, everything is 50% off every sunday after 2pm. 1 fruit.creme tart, 2 croissants, 1 napolean, 1 espresso, and a baguette loaf later - I'm riding home with a delighted smile on my face. (I've had the fruit tart and espresso, the others are for splitting with my roomate and gf...

I'm reading: https://www.amazon.com/Wish-Inform-To.../dp/0312243359
My heart hurts reading this book. I can't stomach more than a few pages at a time, but I really want to finish reading it. It's as interesting a commentary on rwanda as farmer's works are on haiti. What a freaking stomach churning book.
I don't think anyone can come out of an experience like that and stay sane..

Boyer and Ritchey spend a lot of time there helping with Team Rwanda. In Boyer's case there's an element of rehab in many ways.

Instead of watching the Browns (after the OSU game last night I've had about enough of watching football for the weekend) I decided to go watch some cross. Pretty sure I saw CK (I can't imagine there being more than one person in that kit in NE OH). Got back and took advantage of some gorgeous weather for a ride. Went exploring and found a 3 mile long hill without any stop signs I didn't know existed. All around a good day.

I talked with my neighbor last night and he gave me a bunch of stuff to think about - so now I'm reconsidering a lot of the position stuff.
here's the short version:
I have a tri background - and I like to ride 'steep' anyway, so I had the bike set up really steep (around 79-80deg I think?)
He looked the bike over and talked about muscle adaptation, and said that having a slightly more 'road' style position (closer to 76deg) would be much closer to a position I could get myself to when attacking or bridging on my road bike, and he said that for him, the muscular interplay between having positions that were a little closer between road & TT (not the same, just closer than I had them) would be very helpful.
That makes sense to me, because I can't even get close to the amount of front-of-center and body angles on my roadbike that I had setup on the TT bike.
He also said that several of the major SRs that I'm aiming for have some tricky steering + windy sections in them, and have that forward (and thus twitchy) of a steering position would be a detriment at races like Cherry Blossom & Hood.
Oh - and another point was that I didn't need to slam everything so far forward, because I don't need to save my quads for a run afterwards, so I should put myself in a position to use more of my quads (so, slide the seat further back)
Those arguments certainly make sense, I'm not sure how to balance the different theories out - so I'm thinking about it and trying some of his suggestions out on the trainer...
Any thoughts or responses to his comments from anyone here?
Come to think of it - I'll post links to video me riding the positions and stills of the bike setup in a thread tonight - that's a better place to discuss it anyway.

that sounds awesome. I can't find any app though. I don't know what terms to search for.

Came home with nice winter gear I got on the cheap from the team. Saw the new team bike and the clothes line for next season. All top of the line and kind of expensive. My teammates must all have nice jobs. No one wanted to go with what we had this year. This stuff was 3x the cost. Sheesh.

Backstory - an all-around nice guy and very fast pro triathlete named Jordan Rapp got hit and was moments away from death in a car accident via blood loss and shock... he started a thread about safety and stuff, and the conversation got around to the topic of GPS positioning and other stuff. The whole thread is worth a read... but it gets around to android/gps stuff here

I really want something more like "Plerts". It will do what Live Tracker will, but only after a certain amount of time. I want something where I can set a time that I'll check-in using my phone, and if I don't check-in by that time, it alerts some people of my choosing with my location.

Just finished taking a two-day advanced skills clinic. Today was the on the bike day, and unfortunately it was in the rain. All my stuff is soaked and my rain bike had about a quart of water in the frame tubes. I wished I'd brought fenders.

Forward, if set up right, does not mean twitchy. A huge amount of aerobar control issues come from arm and elbow orientation. Fore/aft has very little to do with it. I'm right on or past the UCI limit, my elbows are locked together and I've ridden 55 MPH in crosswinds that blew a competitor off their bike.
Depending on your size and motor, I'd either start as aero as you think you can get or as powerful a position as you can get then works towards the best balance of both.

I think he's got it backwards. Using a more rearward position tends to cause the pelvis to need to rotate forward and thus utilizes your Glutes more. It also has the effect of creating a more acute hip angle for a given front end height.
