We were most happy with small in-home day care. It's more like a family, with a handful of kids. Not sure if that's an option for you.
(I suppose if you spent 6 months looking, you know what's available)

My wife and I have a pretty good situation as well since I work full time during the day and she works nights (yoga instructor) so our daughter spent days with her. Now that she's in Pre-K my wife switched her schedule so she's teaching while my daughter is in school and is home more often at night which makes my daughter very happy.

Morning training becomes a tough sell now that the sun rises later and it's getting progressively cooler. I did that for a few years during the winter and it was always really hard to motivate when it looks like the middle of the night; the tree branches swaying always gave a preview of the strong cold winds to deal with the moment you step out the door.

Try getting up at 3am to do a 2.25hr commute. About 1hr in you wake up and realize how awesome it is in the morning with a full moon, cool breeze, and low humidity.

when do you go to bed to do this madness? I'm currently trying to get up at 5 AM, then train from 5:30-7, then go to work.

To do this I have to be in bed by 9 PM or so, or I don't get enough sleep. I normally get up at 5:25, and for some reason 5 AM seems much earlier than 5:25.

I hope not. Is it hypocritical of me to eat meat, but be opposed to doing that to sharks ?

i don't think it is. I eat meat b/c it's the natural way for me to get my essential amino acids, iron, and B-vitamins. I'm a meat eater & i think i'd throw a fit the day i can't drink milk or eat meat.

Shark fin soup is totally different ball game. I mainly oppose it because people eat it as a status symbol, and i doubt that the fins have much nutritional value. To boot, often the shark is captured, has its fins cut off, & then thrown back overboard. As the Chinese economy buoys, more and more people have the ability to purchase luxury items. The shark fin was originally something to which only the emperor and his top ministers had access, and because of that cachet, everyone and their grandma think "they've made it" when they can throw a 20-person banquet featuring shark fins. With fifteen years of the booming economy, and dwindling shark population is a direct result of it. It almost makes purchasing a Philip Patek less of a dôüchy move.

I've never had shark fin. I have had shark steak though, and it's pretty good. Similar to tuna really.

If responsible fishery practices are maintained I don't have a problem with eating any fish. The problem with the shark fin is the cutting off and then tossing the shark overboard, that's pretty messed up.

I grew up near an air force base and was obsessed with planes as a kid. I assumed everyone understood how contrails were formed and was thus baffled that there was a conspiracy theory that they were a government plot to poison/medicate/control the public.

I just found out that I left my tire repair stuff at home. Well, I have a spare tube, but nothing to inflate it with.
In a 10 or less commute that wouldn't be a big deal for the wife to come to the rescue but when I'm 40 miles away it can be a hassle.

That's what's done. And the sharks are gill-netted, which is the fishing equivalent of strip mining. The by-catch alone is an enormous waste. The shark fin industry is much like the Asian apothecary harvesters on land; shoot a bear, harvest the paws and gall bladder, leave a rotting carcass.

Sadly, the US Government has a fairly long history of running experiments on civilians without their knowledge or consent. There's around a dozen instances where bacteria, radiation, or medical experiments were performed on small groups to entire cities. In several cases people did get sick from these. And those are just the ones in public domain.

I agree with you, but see nothing wrong with a Patek. Yeah, some of them are tacky. Others however are tastefully done.

Watches can be expensive as heck, but they're less showy. I.e. the average person doesn't know what a patek is. They know rolexs. It's a show of wealth to the wealthy which is much more muted than other statements.

I think my uncle has one also. I've never seen it but I'll ask to next time I see him. Wonder which category his falls into.
