Glad mine are pretty self sufficient now.
Yep - we were in a home daycare and that would be our preference (well obviously our preference would be to stay home with the kid but that won't work right now).

I hope so too. My wife is fed up with working/waiting until things are right for baby #2. We are looking at changing jobs/cities to cut down expenses so she can stay home for the next couple years. I'm hoping to get into upstream oil and gas right now.

He's a programmer. We all like Strong Bad. I don't much care for the general non-sb-email HSR stuff though.

I don't doubt it. Tuskeegee is just one that comes to mind. I think there's also a documented episode in which the CIA put LSD in a town's water supply. But give the gov't some credit, people. If they were going to spray chemicals on the public, why would they do it so every one could see?

It's for the greater good - how else would we know what happens when syphilis goes untreated? Next you will be against good old animal testing.

Wife's Razr leaped to its death after a long life. Looking at Android phones. What is the collective wisdom? Any "dogs" to avoid? We are on Verizon after the Alltel takeover if that makes a difference.

Any advice to use an Apple product will be ignored.

Evo and Droid X are big, but good if you're into multimedia. Netflix streaming isn't far off, and the bigger screens will probably be pretty nice for this purpose. For normal sized phones, the Incredible and Samsung Galaxy S (Epic) are the leaders, with the nod going to the Samsung, just because it's newer. HTC has some about ready to roll out for the next turn in the leapfrog. If you want a slider, the Droid 2 is a safe bet.

Features to look for:
-Android 2.2 (Froyo) installed, with declared plans to update to 2.3 (Gingerbread) when available
-Free wifi hotspot enabled w/out rooting (I believe this can be had on the Samsung)
-Swype pre-installed
-1GHz+ processor
-Possibly 4G. Sprint only right now, but Verizon has it around the corner here...

The only phone I'd actively avoid is the Motorola iQ. Just sucks and is on a sucky network
