.... I don't like the Jets, too heavy, and at 50-52 mph the front wheel gets the bike all weird.
Great for training, yeah, but I can have more fun with lighter wheels.
If I were to do it again, I'd avoid the Jets. I'd hope/look for a carbon clincher that's tall for the rear and a similar height one for the front.

I'm almost always riding either a [dtswiss box rim/campy record] or a [Jet6] on the front and a kinlin 300 PT rear.... a heavy wheel setup for sure.
On a nice day, I swapped front wheels a few times with a teamate during a training ride. He had a Kyserum SL and I had the Jet6 on mine.
The accelerations were maybe a little slower, but not really... holding the wheels side by side, it felt like the Hed was lighter.
for my situation, I think that the Jet6 is a better proposition, but again - I haven't spent much time on tubulars.

Tubulars, at least efficiently made ones (like the Stinger6), are incredibly light compared to clinchers. The difference in "jump to speed" between the wheels is about one pedal stroke, like 4 instead of 5. I should review my clips to see if I can count pedal strokes but it's something significant like that.
My Stingers are about 1350g, the Jet combo 1900+ I think. It's all in the rims since the hubs are the same. Spokes are a bit longer in the Jets too.
Aero only makes a significant difference to me at higher sustained speeds, where I'm holding an unholdable speed. So rolling along at 34-35 mph, which I can't do for long, is easier with aero wheels. Tubulars let me jump around a bit, clinchers I'd much rather hold a steady speed.
btw I don't like the new HED site.

Hida and cdr -- thank you. I'm going to do a bit more research before dropping some dough to go deep. While my massive guads and ability to generate tremendous torque might offset/neutralize the wheel-weight effect of spinning up those wheels, I don't see why I need to necessarily put myself through that.
Edit: something in particular you don't like about their site?

One of my best friends just got into med school in boston. She was losing faith in herself it happened just as she was starting to express doubt.
I am overjoyed. Shooting the flippin' moon.

Based on the VeloNews test I'd look at the Stinger6/9 set up for racing. For training... well, I normally say you need to use a similar front wheel, but the Jet6 handles differently (to me) than the Stinger6. The Stinger seems more stable in weird wind. I may be hallucinating but that's what I think.
The Stinger9 gives up a bit in terms of weight but in speed... it should be faster, noticeable perhaps in a threshold state (40k TT for example) but maybe not in other situations. The thing about the 9 is that it'll sail well so in certain conditions (like the sprint at Mystic Velo Crit in 2010, which was unusually a cross tailwind) it's a huge advantage. I only had Stinger6s but they still work well - I jumped from really far back, was hoping for a top 6 (i.e. 6th) as a way optimistic result, and the wheels and the wind combined to let me romp through virtually all the field (got 2nd).
In other situations the 9 is only like another wheel, so not a huge deal. It's not like it gets really slow.
If I needed to stay with normal width rims, I'd look at wheels like the SDV66 because they're available in both clincher and tubular; they had identical braking and handling characteristics, minus whatever slight difference the tires made. The DV46 clincher and tubular set I had was the best combination of training and race wheels I had, but I wanted more speed.
Now if HED will just make a carbon clincher Jet that's just as wide as the Stinger (right now the Jets are substantially narrower). I'd get them no questions asked.

You can bug me on my trip. It's all about cycling so a question on Jet 6/9 is only reasonable. Appropriate, even, since I have both wheels here as well as the Bastognes.
Let's put it this way. If you got me a Stinger9 rear and a Stinger4 front, I'd trade you right now for the Jets and I'd even give you money since I rode the Jets like 40 times. Maybe 50. If you got me a Stinger9, I'd do a trade, giving you both wheels in return for a Stinger9, if you gave me a bit of money. I don't like the Jets, too heavy, and at 50-52 mph the front wheel gets the bike all weird. On the Bastogne it's fine at 50-odd mph, even in gusty swirly wind (like 2 to 20 feet off the back of a semi).
Great for training, yeah, but I can have more fun with lighter wheels.
If I were to do it again, I'd avoid the Jets. I'd hope/look for a carbon clincher that's tall for the rear and a similar height one for the front. I'd guess that such a set up would weigh, on the lighter side without being stupid expensive, about 1600g. Then I'd be okay with a 50 mph speed limit, acceleration, etc.

Cdr - number of clicks is an interesting topic. In general, the less clicks the better; but, there can indeed be tradeoffs with scrolling, organization and such. I didn't see the HED site before, so, I can't comment on it. But, imho, an interesting (nonwebsite) story is Msoft Word (office) 2007 vs 2003. As I understand it, testing indicated that the former was improved due to organization - indeed, maybe it did make it easier to find some features (or increase awareness of features). But, for me personally -- and I think many others -- the increased clicking to do things drove me nuts.

this is why I don't play with the nicest toys... I'm confident that if I did, I'd want them.
I'm almost always riding either a [dtswiss box rim/campy record] or a [Jet6] on the front and a kinlin 300 PT rear.... a heavy wheel setup for sure.

The accelerations were maybe a little slower, but not really... holding the wheels side by side, it felt like the Hed was lighter.
for my situation, I think that the Jet6 is a better proposition, but again - I haven't spent much time on tubulars.

It's going to be raining hard all day and into the morning. May not be able to get outdoors.
And I'm sorry about all you snowed in folk.

Making a kilometer blurry
I rode in today at 21F with snow and ice and spinning cars everywhere (SS MTB 32/17). It was pretty funny watching people trying to drive. I stayed on the sidewalks to get some curb protection. I passed a couple cars trying to make it up a hill.
