68 miles up tempo ride with the club today. It was a little fast for this time of year but it was very consistent (no crazy attacks from anyone). Just a nice fun ride and what I needed during this rest week.

Two hours yesterday, four hours in the little ring today. Yay base!
Did a few sprints/downhill spinups in the little ring, which I'm counting as "speedwork".

2 hours on gravel with 30-40mph winds. Tubeless conversion holding up and working out pretty well on my gravel grinder.

2:45 of Z2. It was windier than heck but also 20 degrees above normal for this time of year, so I am not complaining.

A few things I relearned today:
1. "1/2 inch down and 1 inch over" doesn't necessarily mean it's just a few miles.
2. Android GPS Google Map doesn't have scale.
3. If the town where you started riding suddenly disappeared from the map, it's a hint that the scale has just gotten to "you should zoom in now".
4. If it takes over 1.5 hours to ride the 1 inch to the left, the 1 inch up and 1/2 inch over will take another 2.5 hours or so. If you have 1.5 hours of daylight left this is a problem.
5. The mountain bike is a bit slower than the road bike, but with so little coasting it's great for base training.
A corollary:
I have a great wife. She eliminated the 2 hours of daylight I didn't have quandry by driving out and picking me up.

30 minutes on the rollers, 30 minutes on the trainer. Rollers at z2, trainer at z3.

1:45 z2. I started out the week by taking days off, but it's going to end up to be a decent mileage week.

5:09 (mostly z2) with 50 min of SST from about 3:45 in. Started out with the group and then split from them at about mile 30 (kinda glad to finally get some wind). Then towed around one of the club brevet riders for about 1.5 hours before I started my z3/z4. Only 228 TSS but I'm not gonna complain for my first big ride of the fall/winter. Next week will bring some headphones in case I have to do the hard stuff by myself.
I'll welcome you back with open arms! I need a buddy for these 5-6 hour rides!

Usual Jax Sat am group. Nice turn out and the contenders for the "Championship of November" were pounding it on the front. Funny note, almost all of the really fast guys ( and me) were just chilling in the back all morning.

So I met some of my teammates for a ride today. Didn't think twice about the meeting time/place, but it was the Swami's sat ride.
Whoops.
My high-end, which is typically my strength, is non-existent.
It was stupid fast at points. I quickly realized that alot of the guys I met this summer don't really vary their training/riding schedules at all throughout the year.
I was pleased by my ability to take many solid pulls in the middle sections. I have been focusing on threshold during the weekdays and long solo on the weekends, so I guess it's paying off.
It was annoying to see Joe Club Racer attack and sprint past me near the end of each long section after hiding in the pack, and then chatting about it.
I stayed quiet and reminded myself that in 3 to 4 months the ride will indeed get faster and that they'll have a harder time "winning" the group ride.
I'll be back to kicking ass and taking names in the Spring. I know from experience that all it takes is 1 training block (month) for my legs to get back into rompin' and stompin' mode.
What's worse is that this is supposed to be a rest week for me. I was looking forward to a few hours of team time, MAYBE a little sprinkling of z3 in there.
I'm sticking to my long solo rides for this coming month, that's for sure.

You couldn't have posted this at a more perfect time for me. That's what I should have done.

Sore before the 2hr30min ride, sore during the ride, sore after the ride. Being in a group today was key; just gotta keep on pedaling.

3hrs45min of suffering today with my wife...Had hoped for a group, but no one else showed up...
Both of us were pretty pooched, her more then me, so I spent most a huge portion of time giving her shelter from the wind...
After 4wks of close to 15hrs a week, I'm done...Need some rest...
Still feeling good off the bike, not mentally down, but I can tell on the bike that the legs need a break...Let's see what the coach says...

First time on the River Ride in awhile. Just wanted to hang on, maybe go to the front a do a respectable amount of work, and not get dropped. It pays to keep your expectations low.

5.5 hours with some of the team yesterday, four nice 500-600ft climbs to make it interesting.
Luckily anyone who didn't want to go fast-ish peeled off early into the ride, so we were able to go at a reasonable pace (sometimes more) without too many grumbles. I took the 1 mile @ 10% climb, which felt good; afterwards anyway.
And I figure since the whole ride was done in the little ring then it still counts as Base right?

A little over 3 hours mountain biking in N. Georgia today. My legs feel all wobbly and weak, just like Hammy's arms.

The coach has spoken...And so has the weather
The rain is here so it's 3 days of rollers for 30min a shot...Really starting to get hang of those things, standing, drinking and riding no hands...
