Hardest part of this time of year is portion control....I ate a pound of penne pasta with mozzarella, tomato and basil...that's not a big deal normally but I'm not really working out much right now....

We had two avocado trees in our back yard in the last house we had in Cali....we were watching season 1 of Entourage last night and I got really really homesick.

There is a place in my town that was famous for their guac and people would line up out the door for it when the sign was put out that they had fresh guac. I never understood why until I started thinking about the "emotional attachment" part of food. Many of those people lining up had really positive experiences in their lives that connected with that food item. This is a college town. You can connect those dots. For them every time they tasted it it brought back strong positive memories.
Personally I thought that their guac was nothing special. I make my own and I greatly prefer the taste of my own recipe. The guac that my wife makes is totally different, but I love it because every time I eat it there comes a flood of wonderful memories.

I'm marinading some skirt steak in the lime/tequila marinade I posted earlier to make some fajitas. I used 100% agave. Perhaps I should put that bottle back in the liquor cabinet ... later.

Alder wood smoked salmon lox, reduced fat cream cheese (philly), and dill weed on wholewheat crackers (Breton) is pretty darn good!

Thanks for the suggestions mollusk, those sound great.
Sometimes my co-workers drive me crazy with their constant comments about my eating habits. I was walking to my desk with my normal daily breakfast (2/3 cup TJ's multigrain hot cereal, 3/4 cup nonfat greek yogurt, 1 cup strawberries) and my co-worker stopped me to say "Is that all oatmeal!?"
I told her what was in it and she responded "My God, that bowl is huge!" Um, dude, it's 310 calories. I rode 2 hours this morning. I think I'll survive. (Also you are fat and I am not so STFU). /rant

But, seriously that would really annoy me. I get kind of the opposite response at work. If I have some of the free food we often get, then complain, the typical response is ''With as many miles as you ride I wouldn't worry.'' They should really be shaming me into eating less.

Hm. The lime tequila marinade sounds awesome.
I had a steak fail yesterday. Overcooked it a ton because I forgot it in the oven. Still tasted okay, but it would have been much better if it'd been cooked 10-15 mins less in the oven. Bleh. Maybe I'll throw it on a pan next time. Then again, if I'm ruining my own food and the food I cook for others is good, I have no complaints!

Ok fine, I was referring to the thin, moist, preserved cuts.

If I just said smoked salmon people might think of something that looks like this:
Instead of what I ate which was more like this:
