Flats

I see people posting about getting flats and I don't understand how you can get flats. I want to know how people get so many flats. Whenever I ride (which is often because of where I live), I never get flats. I'm either riding over roads that don't have any glass or riding around the glass that I see in the road so I don't get flats. Also my tires have those kevlar belts so I just check them once and a while and pull out any bits that might cause a flat.

Bikes: Three road bikes. Two track bikes.

Oh, you are so dead to rights now. You've angered the flat gods. In fact, you've issued a direct challenge. Silly little man. Bring two spare tubes and a spare tire with you on all rides until you've made the proper sacrifices.

This is how those horrifying strings of flats get started. Like my 5-flats-in-5-days stretch a couple years ago that started with me running over a razor blade on a commute on a Friday, continued on the other side of the weekend with a Monday where I suffered three flats and was down to gluing patches in the rain, and finished with a staple through my tire on Tuesday which resulted in me giving up and walking the mile and a half back to the car.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Hey, congratulations. You've just guaranteed yourself a flat in the very near future. Make sure to report back on how far in the middle of nowhere you were, how your spare tire also blew and how your pump stopped working.

I don't ever get flats. I feel like most people get flats because they don't keep their tire pressure up.

I don't believe in the flat gods I've angered them before, but still didn't get a flat.

Hehehe you have pissed on and pissed off the tire gods...you will now be plagued with flats...
I flatted a couple of days ago...a tiny shard of glass was the culprit...last flat, a couple of weeks ago, was also a small shard of glass.
Spring is also a time of more flats as the road edges are more cluttered with all sorts of debris until the road cleaning crews take care of them.
Flats happen. Don't sweat the small stuff.

glass, it is everywhere. It has been a few months since I check the cuts in my tires for glass. I found a steel wire that managed to pierce the side wall last time.

Bikes: Ebay Bikes... =)

I got a flat mystery flat on friday's recovery ride last week. Lucky for me I was just about 1 mile from home so I rode it out (back wheel flat).

I checked the tube tire, no glass, no metal, and the tube had a hole on what appeared to be the rim-side ... and I was using mavic ksyriums, NO RIM TAPE or spoke holes...
