If you can't poop, don't go to Europe.

I use a combo of coffee and breakfast sandwich.

I once took a laxative the night before a marathon so I would be sure to have a nice early BM. I had one. And another. And another. And my insides gurgled all 26 miles. It wasn't pleasant.

I guess you learned your lesson of not changing your race day routine.

Never had to go during a race. Training, yes, but not a race. It helps not to have a shy colon.

Drink a glass of water before bed and another as soon as you get up.

A thorough pre-race dump is must...

You guys realize that eating some high fiber food the morning of, or even night before, doesn't do a thing. It takes 24hrs for food to pass through your system on average and for the fiber to have the bowel effect...so make sure the morning before the day of your race to get plenty of fiber...In fact, eating fiber has a negative effect for a race. You don't want fiber to absorb moisture, cause bloat/fullness and slow your digestion for a race. You want easily digestible food for pre-during ride.
