With the cooler morning weather and the road season finished, I find myself really wishing I still had a mountain bike. I think I just need to spend some time in the woods.

Don't those things in his ears bang around while he's riding? Does the wind whistle through them when he gets up to speed?
A friend of mine races single speed 'cross, rides and races single speed mtb and often rides ss/fixed on the road. I think he's 65 now and I should ask him why he hates derailleurs. Or maybe he hates shifters.

So for those who manscape, what do you use? I normally use this ****ty beard trimmer, but it just died. Trying to use a razor is 100 times harder due to the risk of actually cutting yourself. Got any suggestions?

I actually use a razor, specifically a Gillette Venus. The design of the head clears more efficiently than others and helps to prevent razor burn. You learn pretty quickly what techniques work and what doesn't.
Alternatively, you could try this:

I did one Cyclocross race. It was hard, but made even more difficult by my poor decisions. Mostly I decided I was only "participating" in the race, so I chose to start in the back. What a disaster. I quickly learned how few people could actually turn or corner. It was miserable trying to get past everyone.
But mostly, by the time cross season rolls around, I am just too tired of racing and training to really put any effort into it. The road season here starts in late January and runs until early September - road and cross races overlap. And I need some weekends at home and not driving out to races.

straight blades take a bit of work and practice but nothing will get you closer to that silky baby smooth skin. In the long run it is also the cheapest option!

Jandro has no hipster cred. Didn't he actually put his fixie on a track? Plus he does hill repeats and put an SRM on his road bike. Nope, no cred.

Working like a normal person this week, so I'm a bit behind on BF talk, so sorry for blabbing about myself. After a year of underemployment, it's a bit weird (in a good way), I need to reschedule pretty much my entire life though. It looks like maintaining a training schedule will definitely require switching to early AM rides, that will be the biggest challenge of all. I'll adapt to the job, but riding hard after a day of standing at the bench will be hard. Right now I'm pretty smoked after a day of work. We'll see. Transitions are hard, sheesh. I should be in the middle of my base for cyclocross right now. But that's not what really matters right now, what matters now is, I have a job, I'm getting married in 2 months, life is good. I'm going to race my cross bike and dig it even if I get crushed in every race. Is it totally lame to say that you guys here have helped me stay sane for the last year? I don't care if it is. The 33 rocks.
Jobs are over rated .
You'll get it all figured out and balanced I'm sure!

I did hear someone mention 'hipster roadies' one time. What does that even mean?
Get a good beard trimmer (norelco makes good stuff). Join dollarshaveclub.com for razors (a fresh, sharp razor will make it less likely that you cut yourself). Get good aftercare lotion to soothe the skin if you're getting post-shave irritation. Otherwise, just htfu.
Also, I'd support a temp ban for the afore-quoted sentence.

The cyclocross stuff is funny. I feel exactly the same way. It's like the old Air Force/Army joke about jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. I see no reason to get off of a superior mode of transport only to use my much inferior legs.
