Story of my life. I love my employer, but they need to up the wages. I've typed up a nice document explaining everything I've done for the company that I'm going to take into my review this winter and then ask for $10k raise. Fingers crossed!

Well, I'm finally starting to move into the position that they've been yoyo'ing in front of me and I keep trying to stand up/volunteer for, after like 6 months, when we are getting slammed and I'll have to self train myself in the position. I've had a PTO day requested for over a month for this coming Monday. It's the last day my girlfriend is in the states before going to study abroad in England. An install came up at work that started today. We have restricted remote access that people on their end have to watch over us, so we only have set times we can work on it...6am to 10am our time because they are overseas. Well today we were unable to finish, which was kind of expected for the install type. The next day they can work (because of different weekends) is on Monday. I realize they need me to finish this process, so I volunteer to my boss that I'll just work remote in the morning from 6to10, because my girlfriend will probably be sleeping anyways, and hopefully finish up the install.

I get an email from the President after going home today that said basically if I want to step up and do this job, then I need to take no vacation and be in the office to do this install. I a) already volunteered to do the work, which my girlfriend will already hate me for because I cant even sleep in with her on her last day b) the work is remote overseas, so there is absolutely no reason to be in the office to do it anyways. If I need help from anyone it'll be someone that doesn't even work in the office, so I'd have to call them anyways.

The office morale is horrible. He watches over us and makes sure we put in 9+ hours a day (set times, no flexibility) or otherwise calls us out. We can't even go see a doctor without taking a PTO day, which is only if he approves it. There is zero work from home policy, and our office is in midtown atlanta (which means some people have to commute 2+hours a day, no matter what, 5 days a week).

Does anyone else think this is a complete joke or am I overreacting by considering quitting/turning in my notice?
Absolutely get your resume updated and start looking. Sounds like they guy went to management school in the 1960s. In my previous and current jobs at small companies, I have been soley responsible for the SQL databases. Both places had no issues with me or anyone else in IT working from home when requested. And both IT managers would work from home sometimes.

When you quit, start off with "Remember that day I wanted to work from home ?......"

He'd come in at 10 and stay til 7 to make sure we all stayed until 7 - even on Fridays. We were chastised for taking vacation days or sick days - but he never missed taking a vacation.

I loved the job, but I hated him. So i left.

Creatre, as suggested by Ex, I'd do as expected (since the request was denied) for now, and go find a better job. Unless, of course, you want to walk out -- then I'm sure we can come up with something a little more creative...

I'm in a good spot. My director caught hell from execs this March when all of her managers were gone the same week for spring break. She weathered it and assured them that we'd covered our bases and remained in touch. She's also supporting us all doing the same again in 2014.

I knew this biker, Hell's Angel looking with swastika tats, pointed beard, etc., but he also rode bicycles for fitness. One day on the bicycle two gang-banger types hit him with their car, turned around and drove up to him while he was lying on the street and asked him how he liked it. Not wanting to get shot, he kept quiet.

Yeah, that's not a good situation. An LAPD chief(?) in the 90s got hit on his way home by some gang bangers who were planning to steal his bike. He rolled out of it and drew on them as they got out of the car. He arrested them both and called for backup. That's a better situation.

A friend/training partner of mine got into it with some kids last year while on a ride. He went to see a mutual friend of ours and the kids were there on the street going to his house. He rolled up to have a conversation with them. Kid in backseat drew a handgun. Buddy quickly disarmed him and kids took off. When they figured out they went into a dead and and turned around my buddy was spinning their handgun on his finger.

Did I mentioned he is a Ranger

Police were called...

Just to clarify what are you leaving out there for me to smash outta the park:
1. A comment on Bikeforums?
2. An actual beaver - I believe in properly treating animals with seasoning then actually eating them...
3. A figurative beaver - I am married and cannot smash said beaver out of park

I would say you need to average at least 20.3 MPH on the flats solo to do well in the U23 race, and 21.1 to do well in the 23-29 race

trap is set, and now we wait
