so i settled yesterday with the guys insurance who doored me a few weeks back. damage was a totaled rear reynolds 46 carbon clincher, and a measly $100 copay for the ER (dislocated finger and stiff neck).
now i have 2,000 in my back account that wasn't there 24 hrs ago.
time to get that PT wheelset built. Just have to decide on rims, front hub, spokes, nipples.... so basically everything.

Ha you guys are killing me with your relationship stuff
Just remember, no matter how perfect things seem now things do change. People change and you need to change together or you are doomed. What were common goals today may not be common goals tomorrow. Not trying to be a negative nanny, just pointing out things I have learned in the last number of years...
I must say it is refreshing to have a somewhat blank canvas to work with again and the only limits to what I do are limits that I put on myself.
Can you tell it's a slow boring day at the office...Ha!

Any way to find out if there are TNW or something comparable in NYC? I haven't seen anything listed online besides weekend crits and road races.

Also, now that my rear carbon clincher is toast, I don't own any fancy wheels. Maybe someday in the future when I own sets of nice wheels and have some more cashflow, one (or two) SRMs might be preferable.

Some said that Cascade going USAC last year would be its demise... nope!
It's on again and they've made some changes: https://www.cascade-classic.org/
Most notable is that the 2's race 4 days now, 3's & 4's are scored separately, and they created a W 3/4's field.

I was thinking about Cascade if I make it to the 2s by then and it stayed 3 days, but 4 likely means it's not in the cards for me this year

Looks like I'll be going to McDonalds on Saturday.
So excited.
I rarely eat McDonalds, or any fast food for that matter, but I've decided to go ride in the mountains on Saturday, and there is a McDonalds right next to the parking lot, and it smells so good after several hours of climbing, and at that point in time, it's just the best McDonalds in the world.

Yeah, tuesday or thursday night races in the NYC area - maybe they happen in the summer? I don't recall seeing any regular evening races from last year.

Well yeah but that's likely to be a little more than I wanted to spend. Additionally, I own two road bikes that I ride regularly with the same gearing, so swapping the rear wheel is trivial.
Also, now that my rear carbon clincher is toast, I don't own any fancy wheels. Maybe someday in the future when I own sets of nice wheels and have some more cashflow, one (or two) SRMs might be preferable.

Used wireless SRM go for $1200 ish (often less). Refurb units direct from SRM gofor $1600 (Rotor)-$1900 (Duracci). I happen to have both, and i spent that much only b/c the dearth of 165mm crankarms, which would turn a $1200 PM into a $1600 PM all said and done.
seriously, buy it once and don't look back

While I agree with the sentiment I think you were going for (messenger types -- and I know a lot of them personally -- running red lights and such. Most don't here in SF), Don (Roadblock) has worked TIRELESSLY for the last couple years to put this on. Last year and the year before that were HUGE and he went through a large sum of personal finances and innumerable hours of coordination with the LAPD and LA city council to put on a fun and amazing event for the cyclists of LA, including rider insurance and waivers. He's a huge cycling advocate and LA is lucky to have someone like him.
Regardless of how you feel about 'fixie' culture, Don and those like him are EXACTLY what cycling needs in big cities. This is a huge blow to the community and I hope he can find a way to navigate a difficult situation. In fact, he's at city hall as I type this to see if there is anything that can be done to legitimize the Crash Race. There are those who don't want it to be legitimized, but I think it's the right way to go.
I'll stop the P&R talk there but there is a LOT more going on here than a bunch of fixie kids filming themselves racing through traffic and pulling whip skids.

? Lucas had nothing to do with the organization of the crash race.
