A pack of Freds passed me as I was cruising and swarmed me. I couldn't escape...It was a horrible feeling and they were riding sketchy.

Either pass me or don't...wtf is this swarm BS. I up'd the pace and got to the front and they just started drafting so I let off the gas and there I was again, in the pack.

I had to slowly hold my brakes and come to a stop so they would leave me.

Reminds me of the time a guy passed me while I was riding on the MUP.

Oh wait, never mind, that never happened.

I am skinny .............. at least according to someone at work. Pretty funny .... I suppose it's true relative to the average American male in my age group. My w/kg says it is not true.

same problem lol.

We went out to eat yesterday and I ordered a Salad, they all looked at me like I had an eating disorder.

I ate way too much last night.

Ugh, I need to cool it with the sweets.

Everyone at our work is gaining weight. Not just a few pounds up 10+ at least.

It all started with a salsa competition, now the kitchen is stocked with at least 10 pounds of nachos, a pound of salsa, and a crock pot full of warm cheese. Oh, and morning bagels and donuts.

It's pretty east to avoid, the food is disgusting.

dessert? I had it for breakfast. Some folks at work brought it in (they work on the PI team, not Pi, it's a data archiving tool). Maybe this is why I'm office normal and bike racer giant.

I gained like 5-7lbs of muscle on my upper body over Oct/Nov of last year, when I wasn't riding a whole lot due to knee issues. I started a simple routine that I did 2x/week, that consisted of things like pushups, pullups, tri dips ect.

It obviously doesn't contribute to my power output on the bike, and so I'm a little slower up hills then I could be, but it's worth it. I've never been much of a climber or road racer to begin with, and I feel like it contributes to my full body fitness, health and physique. When I hit the deck a few weeks ago after getting doored by a parked car, I felt so solid when I hit the ground, like it would take a whole lot more to break a collarbone or actually do any real damage. It was an unfamiliar sensation, and it felt good.

I still do it 1x/week, and really haven't lost any weight. Don't plan on stopping anytime soon either.

Funny, I found out when I joined my team this year that one of the other members is a personal trainer. I mentioned to my coach that I was thinking about adding weight training to my base blocks next winter, and she said it was a good idea and mentioned the above benefit. It's good to know that that benefit is more than theoretical.

I started do that exact routine a few years back...

pushups, pullups and planks, at 1x week during the season and up to 3x a week during base. The whole thing takes me about 30min and has helped to add a subtle amount of upperbody strength. I'm amazed at the definition I have gotten in my upper body just from those simple workouts...
