I will be racing in some rough and uneven pavement soon with a small gravel section as well. Thinking of running some gatorskins(racing clinchers at the moment). Any other suggestions?

I ran Gatorskins in 700x25 the first time I did Rouge-Roubaix with no problems, and that's 106 miles of bad road including about 20 miles of gravel. They'd be fine.

When I came into work this morning my entire office area (i sit with a bunch of 20-something year old RA's) was decked out with V-day stuff: balloons, candy, ribbons, everywhere
It's awesome.
It also probably will take a little attention away from the fact that I bought valentines day cards (the little kid ones in the big pack with cheesy one-liners) and candy for all my female coworkers

I came into the office this morning to find a pizza box on my desk:
Turns out that she's sending an actual pizza for lunch too!
Damn, I've got one awesome lady.

She has some nice things in the mail. Should have arrived already, but they've been held up in shipping. I keep getting blown out of the water by her gifts, but she keeps pointing back to the engagement telling me not to worry, because I pull out the stops when it really matters.

I had to delete a bunch of rather crude posts that were more appropriate for Trollheim than the Road Racing forum. If you need to be reminded of the forum guidelines, click on the FAQ link at the top left of the page. If the locker-room posts continue, this thread will be moved to Trollheim. Thanks for your cooperation with this.

Took my two lovely ladies (wife and daughter) out to dinner tonight. I loved how excited my daughter was at getting flowers and having to get dressed up to go out to eat. She didn't find the restaurant very exciting but when I tucked her in she gave me a hug and thanked me for taking her out to dinner. These are the moments that always put a smile on my face.

Valentine's Day started with canceling dinner because Junior hasn't been feeling well and we didn't want to burden our friends who would be babysitting him. He reaffirmed our decision by getting violently sick this morning but then seemed to recover nicely. My back is good enough that I can finally drive again so I dropped Junior off at day care at about 1 (he goes two half days a week), started working on race stuff, ate a late lunch, chopped a huge block of ice off of the roof. Got the emergency call at 4:30? to go pick up Junior. He projectile vomited on one of the staff, the "feeding" rocking chair, and a decent portion of the floor around the chair (4-5' radius, semi-circle pattern). He repeated at about 6 and then fell asleep. He's woken up twice so far (with at least 2 false alarms).
(This is the first time I've connected the term "projectile vomit" with what he's been doing semi-regularly for maybe the past couple weeks.)
It seems "not so romantic" for Valentine's Day. No dinner out, no whispered sweet nothings, baby yakking up everywhere, fussing because he's hungry or his stomach hurts or his throat hurts or he's hot or he's cold or he's exhausted.
Then I think of what's happening, what we did, how we did it. Junior looks at us for comfort, literally reaches out when he's so upset he can't do anything else. Then he melds into you when you pick him up, melts into your shoulder or chest or arms.
The Missus tries to cover when I'm tired, and I try to cover when she's tired. She knows when my back is bugging me and she steps in to give me help. She can see when i can make things work so she'll step back and let me work things through. I try to help her when she's tired, when Junior's status seems to stagnate.
We're working as a team, just like a well honed cycling team. We take our pulls and pull really hard. Then we accept shelter to recover without asking for anything more than that. We're giving space to let each of us parent but offering a hand when it gets a bit difficult.
I said it on FB but there's a lot of love here in this house. Okay that and a few germs flying about.
So Happy Valentine's Day to us. And to you.

Jorge, that's great to hear.

CDR, hope you and your family gets better. I seem to remember you posting quite a bit about someone in your household getting sick.
