Almost 2 hours on the trainer just now. Watched 2 episodes of game of thrones. a pyramid with total of 40 min endurance, 40 min mid-tempo, and 40min @ 90% sweet spot. About 125 TSS, which is more than enough for a trainer ride.
Going to try and hit the weights in the first time in a long time later....

so u graduated PhD right? (congrats!)
what are you up to?
ive got my eyes set on 2014 for grad school. will be hard adjusting to having even less time and money.
also my new 1br apt is literally 2 miles from work so my gas expenses are like nothing and I can end training rides at work all the time and just ride home later

First leg-weights in... 1.5 years? aside from some body weight and calf stuff I did last winter to rehab a little injury.
All at very low weight, trying to have rather explosive movements:
Front Squats 4sets of 15
Deadlift 4 of 15
Seated Calf raises 3x 25
Laying hami curls 3 x12
seat leg extensions 3x12
Now we'll see if I can ride the trainer tomorrow....

well, I have yet to graduate as i still need to finish my thesis, but i did start my job at the patent office (alas, being totally depended on the government for my income )
have you thought about whether you want to do a masters or PhD? Or academia vs industry? I somehow feel obligated to be like Cassandra and give people ample facts so that they can be better informed. Much about graduate science research seems like a total sham. PM me if you want to discuss about this in private.

Managing to train despite a somewhat cranky left knee. It's gradually getting better. 3:15 team ride yesterday, got rained on. Another 3:00 planned for today, gonna get rained on again, probably.

3:00 pedaling, 3:45 when you add in coffee time and the 2x trains we had to wait for.
Bibs and jersey here in Houston. it's gotta be 80F out - humid as fk.
10 hrs for the week. Next week will be mostly rest. Next weekend is the first marathon mountain bike race. 45 miles should be good for 4-5 hrs.

Went out for a ride yesterday afternoon. Left in a cranky mood. Weird power readings made me even crankier. Felt much better by the time I got home, though.

one doesn't have to ride x miles in training in order to do well in a race of x miles. you already know you can ride 100 miles, so there's little need to prove it. if you train with some intensity over shorter durations that may actually make you faster, sooner.
is a "century race" an actual race or do you mean a timed ride?

Felt good to be out on two wheels and not strapped to the trainer...

did a group ride on sat for the firs time in a while. it netted me 4.5 hrs with a good slab of z3/4 in there. steady; i felt strong. rode away from the ride in the last 5 or 6 miles with one other dude without going over my LTHR for more than 30 seconds or so at a time
today i did a "measly" 2 hrs w a lady friend.
next weekend will likely not see a group ride as I'd like do 4 hr rides both days and do a solid amount of work in each ride. also our company party is on sat so the duration and intensity of my sunday ride (last day of block) is sorta pending on how hungover I feel

I left early and did 1.5 hours. My legs were dead as fried chicken. It was just a z1 recovery ride, so hopefully that brings them back a little. There's the chance of 2 cross races this weekend. I'd like to do both days, so I'm not doing any real work after Tuesday of this week, but I'd like to get in a bit of intensity between now and then.
