Tough choice for this weekend.
Dash for Cash or Tour de Nez?
Dash is really close, but on a different course (Tri-Valley course, not the usual one), and worse than that it seems like the p1/2 field won't have the requisite 25 riders to actually have $10 laps. Only five pre-reg'd! I'm sure more will show up day-of, but 20 people?
Also, I've done that course way too many times, it's pretty boring. And the Tri-Valley crit is coming up in a few weeks anyway.
Tour de Nez seems to be where everyone is going, but it's in Reno.. at least four hours away from me, if not longer given traffic.
Is Nez worth the drive?

I may go for Dash for Cash if my wife hasn't made other plans for us.

Did Nez last year. It was flipping hard, by damn fun.
They are on a different/better course this year (the old course??) and should be a fun event. If you've got some fitness, I'd say go for Nez.

The one crit I could never figure out. DNP 2 years straight in cat 3
It's one of those races where whoever can do the most all out sprints every 2 minutes wins. Like Cat's Hill but harder. (I also DNPed Cat's Hill last year but I blame the boat I brought instead of a bike - boats can't sprint uphill)

haaaaaaate it. I don't mind something a little technical, like Landpark or whatever. Put in as many 90 degree corners as you want, but foh with 180 u-turns.

But Burlingame is u turn, sprint, try and set up for that hella-wonky wide left and somehow take it terrible every time (probably from lack of oxygen) and have to sprint out of that one also, then u turn & sprint again.
Too bad Martinez was cancelled

You guys woulda hated the old Napa downtown crit. It had a turn that was basically like a backwards "P" shape, so 90 left then 180 then 90 right.

It makes a huge difference where you are in that 180 - on the front? Not too bad. On the back? Fml.

Yeah, definitely - but if near the front you gotta sprint hard enough to hold position (or be able to gain positions directly following the sprint which then takes energy from the next sprint. Seems like it's still all about how many times one can sprint. Then after a few laps when I can't sprint as hard I'll lose a couple positions per lap until BOOM! off the back.

Well didn't get dropped from Bulingame. Didn't feel that hard. My biggest problem was that 180. Any spots I gained I would loose on that turn. heh
Overall I think my cornering deteriorated this season.
Watched women pro/1/2/3. That was just emberrasing. How do you let a lone rider lap you almost twice with 12 people from the same team. Granted like 5 or so got dropped withing three laps, but there was at least 5-6 in main pack, and they were letting three riders from other team do all the work.

I hate burlingame but it's not my cornering, it's my trust in other riders that causes me to give up position in tight quarters. I hate crashing and sacrifice some of my racing to just going home intact.

The Red Kite hill climb and the time trial coming up in the next month are both double omnium points. I'm not sure this will really boost reg numbers enough to make double point anything but kinda silly. I never do hill climbs or TTs, but might have to go now. Get last of 4 or whatever. I'm currently 4th in the 2/3 omnium. And 2nd place upgraded. 1st place is probably close to upgrading.

Ask Rankin about how double point events can affect your overall spot.
IIRC, he flatted in the last race of the cross series, and fell down for a mid-field finish. But that race was a double points event. He ended up falling from second to fourth - and off the overall podium - in the series because of that one race.
