That sounds like not the best idea.

A much-discussed subject overall, but specific to Norcal - what happened to the Red Kite crits?

They used to be big, with all the big local teams (and even Fast Freddy) showing up.

So if you used to race them, but don't.. why not?

Cost is one reason. I was going to come down and race the 35+ and the P12 and do a day of entry just to race. I've got a lingering wrist injury, so my expectations were low and the fees would have been $85. I rode the trainer instead. I'm sure races cost quite a bit to put on, but the fees seem to climb for the sake of climbing. Also, I don't care about prize money it just feels like someone is getting the shaft when entries fees are so high and payout is omnium points.

Some up this way also feel the series is continuously encroaching on other races and choose not to support red kite. However, it doesn't seem they're racing the other races on the calendar.

Seems like E 3/4 has about same amount of people. Last weekend was 37.

That being said due to fees climbing up I don't think I'll be doing as many next year. Day of is now 60 dollars, and second race is 25 bucks.

I do think overall the racing scene is cooling off. Lodi used to have good field, not any more. Davis used to have big field, not anymore. Similar for Burlingame.

Doin Crossfire Hurricane cuz I'm first in the 2/3 omnium so I have to.

Course looks flattish for a while, then turns up.

Is this a road bike position course? Aim for sub-threshold until hitting the climb? Any ideas on how to go about this? As long as I'm going I may as well try my best to not get last.

You have not done PattersonPass before ? Yeah I'd say the last 2.5-3M is the climbing portion. Even in that there what appears to false summits to the real kicker at the end.

Similar to Hack. I thought about doing the crit a few weeks ago, but it would have been a pretty spendy day. Chose to do the River Ride for free.

Participation has been down in San Diego too, and SoCal at large.

This guy 523764 is a beast.

Just gave most everyone a beating at Cascade and will have gone 5 to 1 in less than a season. Came around me in the tt like i was standing still (granted i was going damn slow, but he was flying).

Indeed. I can only hope he goes straight to pro and doesn't bother with local p/1/2 racing for too long!

that guy has more wins this year than I have ever.

Also, riding with the guy before the 35s race who went on to win Matt's p12 race yesterday - saying he had a nice lead in the BAR but it would only take 5 wins by 2nd place to overtake him...

lol. Only 5 wins.

I ****ing hate some of these guys.

Hey Norcal 2s and 3s, go register for Albany quick! I'm the only one preregged except for Ryan who was automatically entered for winning the bump. I'd like to win, but not that way lol.

Registered for 3/4, will play 2/3 by ear. Last time I tried to do 2/3 after 3/4 after doing San Rafael I got popped off 20 minutes in.

The Sierra Nevadas.

I've watched this participation cycle for 15 years or so. We're kind of at the end of the Ponzi-ish scheme, or at least at the point of golf where the build out of courses assumed some pretty far fetched math that didn't come true and ignored that they were catering to a pretty narrow age group.

2 (mostly) flat road races coming up, and both over 80 miles! I'm so excited! I kinda wanna try university for the helluvit, but its probably not worth skipping San Ardo to get dropped at university. Wish we had more rolling and flat road races on the calendar. Ill trade Burlingame and Santa Cruz crits for 2 new road races lol

Blasphemy.

I would trade two Red Kites for some flat road races - if the p1/2's rolled out at noon... one can dream.

Split the difference and start at 10. No waking up at 4am and still get home before dinnertime.

I keep thinking about RK. The last 2/3 had 9 people! WTF. Even at the beginning of the season it was 20-30. Is it the heat, people getting burned out towards the end of the season?

Old timer districts anyone? Itching to race again and see that there are only 2 reg'ed for the 35-39 field on Sunday?!?! Well, shoot, how about Saturday. Only 3 in the 35+?!?! I've been a bit absent, is this the new normal? Even the Giro looks lean.

Meh will see if I can hold on to my ominum position on Saturday in E3/4, go drink beer with my cousin on Sunday and see how that will effect my performance on Monday at Giro.
