So, I looked up stats for the first time, and somehow I got to posts I started ranked by replies/views. This thread has nearly 200,000 views in the 2.5 years since it was started. Damn.
That's 80k/year -- and we've got like 50 active participants, so 1,600 views/participant/year? We've definitely got some lurkers or results to some queries are appearing in Google. Attachment 539982 |
Kéo-Compatible Pedals
I've just thrown out my third set of Look Kéo pedals due to the platforms wearing out. Look seems to have retreated from the US market; I work in an LBS and none of our distributors carry them anymore. My fallback position is to order them from the UK, which I've been doing with cleats.
Any recommendations for Kéo-compatible pedals? I've got a set of Exustar pedals that work well, but they're wearing out the same way the Looks did. I'm looking for a set with a steel-reinforced platform. |

It's the cleanest non-wax lube I've come across and it lasts forever. I want to say the last time I wiped and lubed my chain was like 2-3 weeks ago at this point?

It's what we use in our shop as well. Goes on easily and penetrates well, and it does a good job of cleaning too.

I've read Wend Wax is good, but I'm still working through a bottle of prolink and haven't tried it myself

[MENTION=364302]Doge[/MENTION]? Yep - it was an issue and I will want the fix (which I did myself, but ruined the resell-ability of the frame) . However - 2 years later junior may have that Cav like sprint power we spent so much time disproving so I may not like their fix. |

Issue was: The slot angle in the dropout would pull the wheel out under force. This is the only bike of 4 I tried where that is the case. The other bikes chain tension pulled the axle tighter into the dropout. The Venge chain tension pulled it out. 2nd issue is the dropout were hardened steel plated, so there was little to no bite. I do not think that, nor lube would have been an issue if the slots had been angled correctly. I didn't want to draw anything but it is kinda like this: -/ vs -\ . If the dash was moving to the right and hit a slash/backslash, one way it would go up and the other down. |
Another topic - kind of 41ish but for the National Hill Climb Championship in Aug. This is up Pikes Peak in in my son's back yard. They have a U19 div (??). Don't know which he will do and kinda depends who shows up. I'm posting info to his competitors as well :-)
I'm rebuilding the MASI. The BB is a PF30 that we originally had press fit cups for. I ordered WheelsMfg ceramic BB. the purpose is to get a 12# ish real performance hill climbing bike. The goal is as stiff and light as I can. So many weight weenie things will be rejected just because they are too fragile. This should be fun. Economics matter too, to what degree - don't know. I am tempted to go low profile lighter wheels but his 50mm 25mm width with those 25 FMBs build out to about lightest in the world (in that config). Going <30 profile, 20 width and 22mm Veloflex record would save 600g total and cost $3K, so not so sure on that one. I like the rolling of the FMB silks that I get made with different tread. I'm sticking with Shimano cranks. Likely 9000 as they cost 1/2 of the new stuff. Going compact 50/34 from his 52/39 and 175 over current 172.5. Wondering if I should go 177.5. Definitely ceramic BB, hubs, and likely pulleys. Switching out brake stuff for Power Cordz. So looking for real racing weight weenie type stuff/suggestions. |
