Been watching the Wire. No real "oh snap!" moments but just this inevitable rolling turdball kind of thing instead. Breaking Bad had those "oh snap" moments. I'm not well educated on shows but the Wire is pretty engrossing, ditto Breaking Bad. Haven't seen much of anything else.

I replaced most of our windows myself. We had old-school double hungs, with the weights & ropes in the walls. I got "sash kits" that go in the same opening. Took about 45 minutes per window once I got a few figured out.

I watched Breaking Bad on Netflix, watching the Wire on Amazon Prime.
I really don't watch much so it's good that I happened to pick some good ones to watch.

I need to find a new alternative. 2 years ago when we moved here, we were dropping ~$115 a month for cable internet and phone. This last month the bill for the same from the same people was $190.

The Wire was great, but it was like a different show every season, so when it as over it didn't feel like a huge loss. There have also been some really strong contenders recently (Sopranos, Dexter, Deadwood, Breaking Bad, True Detective, etc.). But for some reason I don't see them having the nostalgia value as some older TV. For instance, and I know this can be a divisive show, when the West Wing was finished it was like I had lost a friend. It might have had more to do with having shared it as a common experience with my parents for so long, but there really was a hole there (notwithstanding the final season shenanigans).

I remember reading at the time that the creator of Deadwood originally wrote the pilot script using period-correct cursing. But when they started filming the crew couldn't stop cracking up because everybody sounded like Yosemite Sam ("Consairn it!") so they changed gears and decided to use modern foul language instead. Good call.

I enjoyed The Wire overall. Some seasons were better than others. Two and five were definitely let downs. I only watched it while riding the trainer, and I can honestly say that my longest trainer ride to date - 4 hours - was because of that show. I watched two episodes and realized I only had two episodes left of Season 3, so I just stayed on the trainer to watch how the season ended. I was more than willing to put in the time on the trainer to keep watching, which should tell you something about the show.
The Shield was excellent as well and highly underrated. I still think it had the best series finale I've ever seen. Breaking Bad was close, but not as good.
I couldn't get into The West Wing. Honestly, I have not liked anything from Aaron Sorkin.
I'm watching the last season of Justified now. It's pretty entertaining. It started off kind of like you standard cop procedural but developed well over each season and the series, with recurring characters and series- and season-long plot lines.
I'm planning to start House of Cards and/or Deadwood once I finish Justified. I also will finish Sons of Anarchy when season 7 comes out on Netflix later in the year. SOA is good, but it's not at the same level as The Shield or The Sopranos.
As for the best show on television right now, it's a toss up between The Walking Dead and The Americans. Both shows are truly fantastic, but they both share a similar construct in that I feel like there is no hope for the main characters, and sometimes that can make me a little hesitant to tune in. Better Call Saul also is good, but not quite at the same level as The Walking Dead or The Americans.

Wire, Breaking Bad, and The League are the best shows of all time. The wife loves the Americans too.

Nothin' like feeling like an April Fool....
Loaded the bike up on the roof rack for a ride this afternoon. Took my Garmin 510 off its mount so it wouldn't get stolen and drove off. Got to the office and realized I took the Garmin off and set it on the roof...then drove off. Backtracked toward home and found it in the street. Screen obliterated ... damnit.

I just got in this argument with a coworker, that TV has made the jump over movies and within the last decade the medium has made a phenomenal leap. He's stuck in the past and won't admit it but has generational favoritism (i.e. my time was better than yours). I accredit this jump to the cable networks, who avoid the pitfalls of censorship from the fcc and sponsors. Even the big 3 have stepped up, but I still enjoy AMC, HBO, FX, and Showtime over them.
I'm not a huge TV guy but I do have about 15 shows I watch. On Demand is a godsend for time management.
Favorite show is Doctor Who, even though its horribly corny.
Bowties are cool.

Dragons, swords, midgets, ye olde kings/etc - too cliché for me.
However I will confess to watching The Dome and enjoying it!
