My first modification was to switch to Chrome as my default browser. Norton doesn't like the new browser either.

I wanted to like the new browser. IE was actually pretty good (which is hard to admit) on W8 with my surface pro 3, the touch screen version of the browser worked really well.

Then Edge came out, and it makes my surface turn into a heat factory and half the time I had to reload pages to get them to work.

I think I may be buying a Win10 license.

Will run Ubuntu also, and run an emulator. That may be a workaround, I don't know, it seems doubtful.

Not the geek thread but you guys are talking about Win10 vs whatever and I'm going by what I see here.

I just read an article about the struggles of health and people being overweight. The reporter referred to a person's BMI.

Just for fun, I calculated my BMI. I'm apparently just inside normal. If I gain 11 pounds, I'll be overweight. But, I would have to lose 35 pounds to get to underweight category. Based on my current body fat percentage, that means I would have to lose every single ounce of fat on my body, plus another 14 pounds of bone/muscle/other tissue.

I know BMI is a BS figure, but how can anyone still refer to it with any credibility?

That's fine if you like surfing through google's server. I remember using chrome the first time I worked on a ship for a month. Got firefox day 2. Chrome was too bogged. I'm not one for tinfoil hats and I know they say it's faster now but it just irks me still.

Because people don't understand statistics and population metrics

It's not that BMI is useless, it's that it was intended for population-level body data, not individual health data. It's not totally nuts to use it as a starting point to determine whether a person should be concerned about their weight, but it should only be starting point and it's over-relied upon a lot of the time. Moreover, the strength of the association of health with BMI is murky and a matter of some debate. That and the way BMI is used as a blunt instrument for institutional fat hate make it pretty hazardous as a health marker.

BMI is fine and is just a guideline doctors can point to. It works for just about everyone, including you, despite you having more muscle than an average person. Bodybuilders and the people who allegedly "break" the BMI tables probably don't have too many conversations with their doctors about the health improvements they could see from losing bodyfat. BMI has a very general purpose and fulfills it just fine with very general guidelines.

We all know you're too fat for this sport...

I'd have to get into negative body fat territory to get to the bottom end of "normal" BMI.

The bmi calculator says I'm at least 18# overweight and the waist circumference chart says I'm at "increased risk" for all sorts of health maladies. Mrs. John says I am "very skinny".

BMI

Right now: 27.8 (172 lbs)
Cat 2 upgrade weight: 25.5 (158 lbs)
Worst: 34.7 (215 lbs)

To be healthy BMI I'd have to be skin and bones. 140-ish lbs.

Has anyone done the NWA Spring Classic road race? Opinions? It's farther than I'd usually go, but they've got M60+.

I'm ounces from obese at 6 feet, 220#. My wife says I'm skinny, I say I'm fat. I thought I was fat at 180# (I was, for bike racing), now I'm just normal person fat.

I'm right in the middle of normal for BMI (6'3"/178) and couldn't imagine what it would take to attain underweight status (6'3"/147).
