I assume otherwise. Fudgy has a track record on this subject. He was poking the bear and I am not biting.

Wrap-up, let's see: crap, crap, crap, podium, crap, crap, crap, fun, broken bone.
I'm a little disappointed in this season, as I wasn't able to improve on last year, due to dealing once again with season-long knee problems. I was on the way to getting that sorted out when I broke my collarbone for the second time in 9 months.
All things considered, though, it wasn't that bad. My legs were never really there, but something clicked as far as racing goes. I really did a better job of reading races and knowing where to be, when to go, what to do than I ever have. The only problem was that I didn't have enough in my legs to follow through most of the time. But I felt like I raced smart, and in one case that was enough to snag me a field sprint win for second place, the best result I've had in years. It's sort of an ironic result given that this year was basically the inversion of last year, when I was strong but didn't have my head in the game. I'll try to put those two things together a bit more next season.

Also for more context, this was @Ygduf's first year of really doing crits, starting out in the 1/2's. He killed it.

Imagine how hard you would stroke out if I came in here ****ting on someone for winning in smaller fields.
But, only 3, with 2 2nds a 3rd and 2 4ths.
Can I count (Cat 2 - 1) results? that would be a couple extra.

You'll never make me stroke out, Fudgy, no matter how hard to keep trying.
You start winning every crit you enter, then you can call them easy. Until then, it's all in your head.

To make it any softer I'd have to roll it uphill in a ZORB at you.

Ha...seemed like there were some indirect "wtf Steve??" type comments on there. (edit: Yahoo "discussions" pages are a terrible format for following a "discussion", btw).
Someone argued that guys love flat square crits because at worst, you can drive 30-60 minutes, race twice, finish in the pack and not have your feelings get hurt when you get dropped on a hill. Basically, guys should HTFU and challenge themselves on harder courses (Cat's Hill, Santa Cruz, etc), get dropped, and learn to race better or get better fitness.
I just like to race and have options, but it is interesting seeing the discussions of those that actually put on the races.
