The Vanilla should be top notch right outta the box. It will get "smoother" with break-in time, but the Vanilla
should not have an annoying little top-out cluck ever.
"IMO" it sounds like there's no oil / very little oil in the right leg. Weird eh? The lock-out works off the damper, so if there's no oil, there's no lock-out. The rebound damping wouldn't work if the oil level is too low.
There could also be something a muck with the damper as ghettocruiser stated.
Either way, it's new. It
should work fine. Take it back to the LBS as others stated and Fox will need to make it right. You have a top-notch fork...don't settle for crappy performance.
