Sellin...I dunno though, man.
The TST gets here tomorrow, so I can get it all installed and everything...but there was this one time...at band camp...when the wind blew my bike over like 1 more inch...against the side of the porch. It left a really tiny (like a few mm long) scratch 3/4 up on the right stanchion. You can't hardly feel it, it's pretty hard to spot, but I know it's there and that's what matters. It will never cause the seals any problem...it basically just rubbed through the black ano or paint or whatever they did to the tube to make it black.
I would be doing this via PM, but I feel that the public nature of this post kinda holds me accountable for making known the flaw in the fork for some reason. I would still show pic's of it and describe it if I listed it on ebay though. I'm just honest like that. I can't freakin' help it
Either way, yah...it's getting sold. I was planning on ebaying it as a an "ex-R", now TST with the story included.
If I were you though...I would seriously consider the nature your future with the fork you have. I thought when I bought mine..."how could anyone scroo-up an R cartridge", but it seems that all of the negative aspects of the reviews decided to have a party on my bike all at once. The 2008 TST has a bladder in the bottom of the cartridge (mind you this story is according to the dude at Marz as well as the Suspension Experts, NC) and the bladder would explode and the fluid would leak down into the chamber causing the travel to be limited to ~3" or so.
According to the dude at Marzocchi, he was going to replace my R with a TST that is not a 2008 TST b/c of those issues. He was sending me the "updated version" that supposedly addresses those issues. He was also going to "go through it personally" b/c of all the issues I've been having and make sure it's right b/c they "like to do that for their clientele that have had multiple issues."
Now...this is either a dude who is a straight-shooter and wants to make sure I'm hooked up...or it's a good salesman who wants to tell me what I want to hear. I lean toward the prior b/c he wasn't making any money off of me by selling me a TST for $65. Maybe breaking even, but that would leave him no motive to give me "lip-service".
I honestly fully planned on riding the 55 again when I got the cartridge installed...but I kept watching that Domain outta the corner of my eye and I just decided to bite on it. The main reason besides the great track record, is the adjustable compression and travel adjust. It won't make the night and day difference that will allow me to climb like my XC buddies...but it will be better for that as well as trips to the sk8park.
So...there's my story.
